🚨 Shipping Fail of the Week! 🚨

Well, folks… this Olympus BX took a rough ride and went from binocular to monocular in record time! 🤦‍♂️📦

The shipper thought, "Hey, it's coming freight—no need to disassemble!" BIG MISTAKE. Always. Take. The. Head. Off. 🛑🔧

Luckily, we know a thing or two about microscope repairs. 🏆 Our team will have this BX seeing double again in no time! 👀🔬

Moral of the story: Microscopes are fragile! If you’re shipping one, disassemble, pack carefully, and maybe say a little prayer. 🙏😂

🔬 On the Road with Munday Scientific! 🔬

Technicians Chad and Danny were out and about servicing more bullet comparison scopes this week. One of these scopes needed a new circuit board, which would have been a costly and labor-intensive repair for an older model. Fortunately, we had several repair scopes in stock and were able to get it back up and running quickly—minimizing downtime and keeping things moving!

Of course, no service trip is complete without a good meal, so we stopped for a well-earned burger 🍔 at a local spot in Siler City, NC.

At Munday Scientific, we take pride in keeping forensic labs equipped and operational with the best service and solutions. Need help with your scope? We’ve got you covered!

🎉 Shoutout to Our Good Friend Brian Taub from Accu-Scope!

We want to thank Brian Taub for an incredible night! Brian flew in all the way from Long Island for a mix of business and fun, and he made it memorable.

Brian had an extra ticket and took fellow Duke Basketball enthusiast, Chad, to the big game—and what a game it was! Duke came out on top against NC State. 🏀💙 Before the action, they enjoyed some local dinner and talked shop.

We’re lucky to have friends like Brian who bring both expertise and great company to the table. Thanks for the visit, Brian—Go Duke!

📢 Another Productive Day at Munday Scientific!

What a whirlwind! Today, our team has been hard at work servicing microscopes for some incredible institutions like NIH, Duke, and NC State, not to mention a few amazing customers in western NC. 💪🔬

Meanwhile, Scott and Melissa held down the fort, ensuring everything ran smoothly. They shipped out multiple DIC Nomarski scopes and even a few new Accu-Scopes—keeping researchers equipped with the best tools to fuel their discoveries.

It’s days like these that remind us how fortunate we are to support such a passionate scientific community. Thank you to all of our customers for trusting us with your microscopy needs!

Two completely different landscapes just two days apart here at Munday Scientific! ❄️🌤️

Snow isn’t something we see often in NC, but we made the most of it! Alex captured some incredible drone shots of the winter wonderland, and while the scenery outside was breathtaking, inside the building was buzzing with microscope service and activity.

Whether it's snowing or sunny, we’re always here keeping things running smoothly. Thanks, Alex, for the killer aerial views!

At Munday Scientific, we’ve started taking a few days each month for continuing education to keep our microscope skills sharp—especially for things we don’t see every day. This month, we focused on rebuilding Olympus polarizing stages. These can get stiff, off-center, or just plain worn out, but with a little know-how, they’re fully rebuildable.

After finishing the rebuilds, we practiced centering the objectives and stages to make sure everything was perfect. Huge thanks to Danny for leading the charge, and great job to Scott, Alex, Walker, Michael, Brandon, and Cody for knocking out one or two stages each!

That’s an impressive upgrade! The 1.25X objective is perfect for broad tissue scanning, giving this pathologist a clear and expansive view. Pairing that with 4X, 10X, 20X, 40X, and 60X fluorite objectives ensures sharp, high-contrast imaging at every magnification.

They also decided to incorporate a Cool LED illumination system to enhance brightness while minimizing heat and energy use.

These additions have transformed their microscope into a powerhouse for both routine diagnostics and advanced research.

This morning, we received an order for two refurbished Olympus CX23 microscopes 🔬 through our website, Microscope Marketplace. As always, we reached out to thank the customer and confirm the microscopes were the right fit for their needs.

We were inspired to learn that these microscopes are heading to Panguma, Sierra Leone, as part of a mission this customer has been dedicated to for the past five years. Hearing about the incredible work being done, we knew we had to lend a hand.

To support their efforts, we included some extra Munday gear, lens cleaner, and additional 40X objectives—free of charge—since they’ve had challenges keeping their current 40X lenses clean. We also shared a YouTube video on proper lens cleaning to help with future maintenance.

This organization is making a real difference, and we’re honored to contribute in any way we can.

Safe travels, and we’re excited to see the impact these microscopes will make!

Lunch with Industry Friends!

Yesterday, Chad Potts, Danny Duncan, and Scott Munday of Munday Scientific had the pleasure of hosting Bobby Martin from Martin Microscope and Chris Dunkley from Schott Lighting for a great afternoon of conversation and connection.

Using Munday Scientific as the meeting spot, the group stepped out to enjoy some delicious local BBQ—because nothing brings people together like good food and even better company!

It's always a pleasure catching up with friends in the industry, sharing ideas, and strengthening partnerships. Looking forward to the next get-together!

🚨 Shipping Fail of the Week! 🚨

Here’s a photo of this week’s shipping disaster. A customer sent us this Trinocular Head still fully attached to an Olympus BX51 frame—a big NO-NO when shipping microscopes!

Unfortunately, the fl**ge was completely ripped off and can’t be replaced. The head is broken, and now the entire bottom assembly has to be swapped out.

Before shipping, we sent this shipper a video on how to properly pack and disassemble their microscope, but they told us they didn’t need it because they were an expert.

Let this be a reminder: even experts need a refresher sometimes! Always disassemble and pack carefully to avoid costly damage.

Need packing tips? We’re here to help—watch the video next time!
