The potential challenge of candies getting caught between the infeed bucket and pusher galvanized our ingenuity, leading to the introduction of special sliding infeed buckets and pushers, expertly designed with specialized grooves to ensure seamless placement for each piece. ADCO Manufacturing was approached by a leading US contract packager seeking to enhance their tray forming efficiency. Our solution encompassed several crucial steps. We initiated the process by implementing the CTF 470V corrugated tray former as the foundational component. This was seamlessly followed by integrating their existing plastic tray de-nester. To ensure precision and speed, we introduced a robotic top load tray packer into the workflow.
To optimize the flow of products, we deployed a 1:2 lane star-wheel product diverter, which skillfully divided the stream into two lanes. Utilizing servo-powered lugged side chains, we transferred product cups to the pick area. Here, the FANUC LR Mate 200iD, equipped with custom 3D printed vacuum end of arm tooling, carefully loaded cups into the awaiting trays.

Check out our latest innovative solution! We partnered with a contract packager to create a cutting-edge fully automatic tray packing system for one of their clients. Our integrated solution features the powerful CTF 470V corrugated tray former (not shown), seamlessly incorporating their existing plastic tray de-nester and a state-of-the-art robotic top load tray packer. Using our efficient 1:2 lane starwheel product diverter, the product cups are evenly distributed into two lanes. Servo powered lugged side chains delicately transfer the cups to the pick area, while empty trays are smoothly guided by servo powered side belts. Thanks to the advanced Fanuc LR Mate 200iD robot with a 3D printed vacuum end of arm tool, the cups are expertly picked and loaded into the waiting trays. A leading US specialty candy producer approached ADCO Manufacturing to design and build a cartoner that could accommodate multiple carton styles, load products automatically or manually, and maintain a compact form factor.
In response to this challenge, ADCO configured a Compact 4 cartoner that could effectively run both conventional glue end cartons, as well as gable top cartons. Furthermore, ADCO collaborated with Batching Systems, Inc. to integrate one of their their counters at the first load station, while the second load station relied on manual loading for products that could not run through the counter. To ensure that each carton was properly filled, a check weigher was integrated at the discharge end.

One of our repeat customers approached us when they decided to replace their hand-load cartoner with a new auto-load cartoner for plant-based deli slices. Their challenge: issues with excess vacuum pack film catching on the carton edges during load.
As a solution, our team developed special transfer lugs between the infeed conveyor and carton which allowed for the film to roll around the product as it is pushed into the carton, resulting in a more efficient and streamlined packaging process. Additionally, as product growth is anticipated, we configured the infeed and controls to accommodate the future addition of a robotic product loading system, supporting their overall automation goals.

A large US chocolate manufacturer needed our help automating a 2-pack holiday carton. Their existing carton was not machinable so we worked with the customer and their supplier to redesign their outer carton to allow for easy product loading and automatic sealing while maintaining the look of their original package. As for the packaging machine, we selected our semi-automatic handload 15D105 cartoner (with a few special modifications) to handle and seal their newly designed cartons. The combined packaging and machinery solution resulted in significant operator headcount reduction, increased product quality and a reduction in package cost.

How fast is fast? 100, 200, 300 cartons per minute? How about 800 cartons per minute! The ADCO Manufacturing RC-800 was customized for raisin cartoning and consists of three sections: an erector, filler, and closer.
The 8-head feeder looks like a pinwheel as it rotates to pick and erect cartons in the lugged chains. Once erected, the bottom flaps are folded and closed in a blur. The empty cartons are then stood up on end as they enter the flood filler where raisins cascade into the moving cartons below. The cartons quickly pass through a vibratory track to help settle the raisins and ensure they are properly filled. Raisins that don’t make it into the carton fall into a funnel that guides them onto a recirculation conveyor. Once filled, the cartons advance to the closer where the top flaps are folded and tucked closed.

A repeat customer came back to us with a challenge, loading flexible, asymmetrical Tetra Pak bottles into an end load carton while maintaining their orientation.
We developed a 1:2 lane diverter that splits bottles into two lanes while preserving their orientation. Our solution features a FANUC America Corporation LR Mate 200 iD robot with an ADCO Manufacturing-developed air-actuated gripper capable of picking a 2x2, 2x3, or 2x4 pattern of bottles without tooling changes.
The robot selects the desired pattern of bottles, rotates the group 90°, and places them into the sliding infeed buckets of the continuous motion ADCO cartoner. Since space was limited, we utilized our SSDBC “short” frame multi-axis servo cartoner.
As per the customer's request, we heavily customized the machine to include extra tall carton modifications, special sanitation upgrades, and a unique inline non-loaded product reject conveyor that didn't damage non-loaded bottles, allowing for their reuse.
