The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has awarded the concession contract for the Tarpon Bay Recreation Area at the J.N. âDingâ Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel to Tarpon Bay Explorers Inc. June 1 marked the first day of the 10-year contract.

History was made right here in Tarpon Bay! 139 years ago, the first Tarpon on record was caught on a rod and reel. Ever since, Tarpon fishing has been an economic driver for the area and their conservation is of the utmost importance!
Weâre coming into nesting season! A variety of our wading birds have already started or will start to nest soon đŁ
We added Tram Tours at 10am and 1pm this Saturday for those who want to learn a little bit more about our feathered friends!

Bobcat sighting! Just moments ago, our Kayak Ramp Professional, Charlie, witnessed this bobcat walk from behind SCCFâs Marine Lab under the back of our building then past the dumpsters then disappeared. How cool is that?!

Echolocation is a very useful tool that make dolphins premier apex predators! In Echolocation, short, broad-spectrum burst pulses are emitted and reflects back off of objects that allow dolphins to locate their prey.
