New Mexico monsoons show you a different kind of beauty: torrential downpour and chaos in one side and a calm or serene scene adjacent to it.

Amazing craftsmanship and artistry!

Last week we gave you a sneak peek of Lisa's newest piece "Ripe to Perfection" and promised you the whole picture soon. Well, here it is! When asked where the name comes from, she tells us "it reminds me of ripe fruits and vegetables. They are colors you'd see when walking around our orchards when the fruit is just perfect." This piece is all handspun churro and all natural dyes, spun and woven by the same talented lady. We have madder root, onion skins, chamisa on indigo, and many other dyes that went into this masterpiece.

You can find it on our website at http://ow.ly/X4yd50EVenF

Gene (Geneva) Kloss (1903-1996) and her husband, poet Phil Kloss, both California natives, discovered Taos in 1925 during a road trip to the East. In 1929, the Klosses settled permanently in New Mexico. Her distinctive etchings - such as this 1939 image entitled Penitente Fires - gloriously capture the mystery and intensity of the region’s culture.
