A stay in Santa Fe wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum

Born on November 15, 1887, the second of seven children, Georgia Totto O’Keeffe grew up on a farm near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. By the time she graduated from high school in 1905, O’Keeffe had determined to make her way as an artist-

O’Keeffe mailed some of the highly abstract drawings to a friend in New York City. Her friend showed them to Alfred Stieglitz, the art dealer and renowned photographer, who would eventually become O’Keeffe’s lover ( Stieglitz was still married when they met) then her husband. Stieglitz became the first to exhibit her work, in 1916.

In the summer of 1929, O’Keeffe made the first of many trips to northern New Mexico

For the next two decades she spent most summers living and working in New Mexico. She made the state her permanent home in 1949, three years after Stieglitz’s death

Suffering from macular degeneration and failing vision, O’Keeffe painted her last unassisted oil painting in 1972. However, O’Keeffe’s will to create did not diminish with her eyesight. In 1977, at age ninety, she observed, “I can see what I want to paint. The thing that makes you want to create is still there.” Late in life, and almost blind, she enlisted the help of several assistants to enable her to continue creating art. In these works, she drew on favorite motifs from memory and her vivid imagination. Georgia O’Keeffe died in Santa Fe on March 6, 1986, at the age of 98.

Our exclusive Eductour enjoyed another day full of surprises & beautiful sceneries .. a guided tour of the beautiful Village of Saint Paul de Vence :
considered by many ( and myself ) to be one of the most beautiful Village in France -

From Modern art, contemporary art, singular or naive... many artists have been part of the history of Saint Paul de Vence-

Like many artists, such as Picasso , Chagall, Folon or Cesar we were charmed as well by the authentic ambience and the very special light of Saint-Paul de Vence where its streets are like an open-air museum and you’re going to love discovering it !

Our host Hôtel , Le Saint-Paul Hotel , a member of Relais & Chateaux , is an elegant 16th century residence, where Provencal style and a French way of life join forces to ensure your clients a unique experience.
It offers 16 rooms & suites ( 13 beautifully appointed suites ) Following our guided tour , time to shop & relax ,
we were treated to a delightful dinner at the restaurant of Le Saint Paul - too short of a visit , nevertheless beautiful -

The next morning we were very lucky to visit & explore the Foundation MAEGHT ( which opened its door in 1964 , will be closed until July 1st 2023 for extension works ) One can find works of Miro , Giacometti , Braque , Calder & of course Chagall (who lived there from 1966 til 1985 & is buried in Saint Paul de Vence along with the Founders of the -( Marguerite & Aime Maeght )

As of 1 January 2023, Croatia has joined the Schengen area – the bloc of 26 countries that has done away with border checks within Europe, making it the largest border-free area in the world.

It is the 23rd of the 27 EU member states to be part of Schengen. Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland are also part of the area, taking the full tally to 27 countries and around 420 million European citizens who can travel without borders around the bloc.

Internal land and sea borders had their checks removed on January 1, while internal air borders will follow on March 26. This means that Croatia can now also issue Schengen visas.

Airlines are warning travelers of delays and cancellations due to winter storms.

This holiday travel season is gearing up to be a perfect storm, so to speak. Just as the number of air travelers is approaching and potentially surpassing prepandemic volumes for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, severe winter storms and an arctic freeze are bearing down on much of the country, threatening to seriously disrupt travel plans.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reported this week that it “anticipates airport security checkpoints nationwide will be busier this holiday travel season compared to last year.” TSA notes that the busiest travel days are expected to be Thursday, December 22, and Friday, December 30.

“We are prepared for the increased volume and expect to meet our wait time standards of 30 minutes or less in standard lanes and 10 minutes or less in TSA PreCheck lanes. However, there may be some situations where the capacity of a checkpoint is exceeded,” stated TSA Administrator David Pekoske.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service on Tuesday reported that “a significant and disruptive storm system is forecast to produce a multitude of weather hazards through midweek, as heavy snowfall, strong winds, and dangerously cold temperatures span from the Northwest through the Plains, the Great Lakes, and the central Appalachians.”

Rebook your flight
All of the major U.S. carriers have issued flight change waivers leading up to the holidays. This is your chance to pre-emptively rebook your travel before things get very hairy. Here’s a brief summary of the airlines’ current holiday travel waivers.

American Airlines: If you are scheduled to fly to or from dozens of airports in the Northeast and Midwest between December 22 and 24 (for the Northeast) or between December 21 and 23 (for the Midwest) and bought your flight by December 19, you can change your flight free of charge as long as you rebook by December 24 (for the Northeast) or by December 23 (for the Midwest).
Delta Air Lines: Delta has numerous winter weather advisories and rebooking options in place for customers traveling to and from the Pacific Northwest, Midwest and Central Plains, Atlantic region and Northeast, and Northwest Mountain region.
JetBlue: JetBlue is waiving change fees and fare differences for those traveling to and from the Northeast on December 22 through December 23. The carrier is also waiving change fees and fare differences for customers traveling to and from several Midwest cities between December 21 and December 23.

Latest News from the IGUASSU FALLS:

SITUATION AT IGUAZU FALLS

We remind again the situation that affects the visit to the Iguazu Falls.
Due to the flooding of the rivers that took place a few weeks ago, the « Garganta del Diablo « ( known in English as the « Devil’s throat « ) circuit will remain closed for a few months because a section of the walkways was swept away by the water.

The authorities of the Iguazú National Park have not yet announced a date for the reopening of the circuit, but they estimate that it may take approximately three months, as the damage caused to the walkways will take time to repair.

We remind you that the upper walkway, as well as the lower walkway and the Gran Aventura activity are operational.
