Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who’ve served our country with courage and dedication. At Florida Boy Adventures, we’re grateful for the sacrifices that allow us the freedom to enjoy this beautiful land and share it with others. From early mornings on the water to peaceful sunsets along the coast, every adventure we take is a reminder of the freedoms we enjoy every day – all made possible by our veterans.

To all those who’ve served, we salute you. Thank you for your service and sacrifice.

The pace may have slowed on the water, but there’s plenty to look forward to. It’s a good time to check in on all the gear, do a little maintenance and get things in good condition for those busy days ahead. There was a time around 30A when you barely heard a peep after Halloween and now some of our busiest days happen over holiday weekends ahead.

Plus, we’re getting ready for deer season’s opening weekend, and the anticipation is high. Fishing’s still on the mind, but there’s something about this time of year – a little quieter, a little cooler – that makes us appreciate the rush of the busy season and love the Florida life even more.

Throwing it back to 2017! 🎣 Emery (age 6) won 1st place in the kids redfish division and 2nd place in the kids trout division. Gilbert won 1st place in the adult redfish competition and Hunter won 2nd. Go team Ray!

When I’m not on the water, I’m doing my best to balance family time, hunting season prep and keeping everything in shape. Grateful for a couple days of downtime, but already looking forward to the next catch. Here’s the thing about fishing—it’s never just about the fish. You spend enough time out here, and you start to realize it’s about the in-between moments: the early mornings, the sun rising over the water, and the quiet stillness before the first cast. Some days, the fish bite, and some days they don’t. But every day, there’s something that keeps you coming back for more.

Just seeing the name Florida Boy Adventures on a shirt reminds me why I started this whole thing in the first place. It’s more than a logo or a business; it’s about the love for the water, the thrill of the unknown, and sharing this passion with anyone who steps onto my boat.

I’ve met folks from all walks of life out here, each with their own story, and I get to be a part of that for a day. We laugh, swap stories, and create memories that last long after the boat docks. Sometimes, they leave with a catch, but they always leave with a story. And for me, that’s what this is all about—getting to show people the wild side of Florida, one cast at a time.

Florida Boy Favorites there are a few places I go to every week, typically multiple times a week and @thebaysouthwalton is one of them. I’m a creature of habit and know what I like. My lunch order is the Big Bay Burger with cheddar and bacon. For dinner, sit at the sushi bar and order a Jon the 2nd roll, no mayo with baked tuna on top and braised collards. One of the things I say a lot to my clients is “Rod tips up!” “Keep those rods up high!” If you fish with me, you’ve heard that. Even on the kids camp. The direction of your fishing rod is your guide when you’re bringing a fish up or guiding it to a net. Rod tips up and drive that thing on in. 🎣

DeSantis announced today that the 2024 snapper season starts June 1 and we couldn’t be more excited. 🎣 Over the last few years, the governor has really looked out for us sportsmen and outdoorsmen, taking a proactive approach to keeping these seasonal decisions in the state’s hands vs the feds.
