This Friday at the Finley Park, Community Center & Aquatic Complex, Redwood Empire Chinese Association's Chinese New Year celebration returns for this annual beloved community experience on January 24 from 5:30- 8:00pm

The Redwood Empire Chinese Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization that has been providing cultural exchange programs with Sonoma County and beyond since 1988. In 2025 we offer you performances to bring the best of good luck and enjoyment for this Year of the Snake. The Chinese Snake is the bringer of good luck, wisdom, prosperity, health and protection. The Chinese Snake is the ultimate symbol of goodness and the best of luck. However, as the protector of the Earth and all it holds, the dragon can be quite fearsome if you cause harm.

Tonight! The Santa Rosa Quilt Guild Challenge reception will be at the Finley Park, Community Center & Aquatic Complex's Person Senior Wing from 5-7pm. The exhibition will be available for viewing until March 26th.

Blind Date with an Orphan Block

The quilts in this display are the result of our 2024 Guild
Challenge. Each quilter was given 3 orphan blocks in a sealed
envelope, so they did not know what was inside.

The challenge was to use all three orphan blocks provided in
making a quilt of their choice. They could use any pattern: one
they designed themselves or a pattern they found in a book or
online. The orphan blocks had to be used on the front of the
quilt.

The quilter could alter the orphan block in any way. The
quilter could make the quilt in any size from a wall hanging to
a bed quilt. In addition, the quilter could use any technique, eg,
piecing, applique, paper piecing, fusing, etc: or combination of
techniques.

The quilters had 6 months to complete their quilt. For some of
the quilters it was the first time they participated in a challenge.

Thank you for viewing our quilts. For information about Santa
Rosa Quilt Guild, be sure to see our display on the first floor.

The City of Santa Rosa is committed to eliminating graffiti in our neighborhoods and business corridors. The Graffiti Abatement Program (GAP) partners with residents, local service groups, and multiple city departments to prevent and remove graffiti, restoring community pride and aesthetic appeal.

Did you know? City code mandates that graffiti be removed within 72 hours.

If you see graffiti on city property, our Transportation and Public Works team will work to remove it within 24 to 72 hours. For graffiti on private property, it’s the property owner’s responsibility to act within the same timeframe. Don’t worry, we’re here to help!

For more information and to learn how to report graffiti, visit SRCity.org/GAP.
