What an awesome day visiting the Florence Farmers Market and P*E DEE visitors Center. We were there for the Summer Spotlight Meeting as part of the Agritourism Association. Wow what a great event. We truly enjoyed mingling with local SC farmers and SC Tourism staff today!!

August fishing report

Catfish
Hurricane Debbie has dropped a lot of water on us here on Santee Cooper. The current in the diversion canal, Santee River and Cooper River is fast. the best pattern for catfish would be anchoring up on the clam beds in shallow water, fishing with cut shad and herring. Also drifting the shallow hills and small creeks with Santee Cooper rigs should produce plenty of Catfish. The nighttime bite is still going strong. Anchor up in 5 to 8 foot of water on top of shallow Hills or around Cypress trees. Cut herring and shad will be your best bats

Bream

August is still a good month for the big copperhead blue bream to be on the bed. Look for beds in 5 to 8 foot of water out on the open flats and around the deeper sandbars located on several of the main islands on the lakes. Fish crickets under a float for best results.
The bite on the Cooper river will be good once the current is back to regular flow. Fish crickets on the drop offs, deep points and ricefield breaks with slip corks and drop shots. Falling tide has been the best time.

Bass
B.A.S.S. report from captain Kyle Austin

Water temps are 85-90 degrees. Fish are in full summertime mode. Early in morning look for fish schooling on threadfin Shad. Later in day 10-20 ft ledges and brush piles will hold fish. Soft plastic worms and deep diving crank baits work best to target those fish. Above 95 bridge there is still a good shallow water bite. Look for areas holding bluegill around cypress trees and bank grass !

Catfish
The catfish bite on both lakes is good. There is plenty of good catfish being caught shallow both morning and evening. The bite on the diversion canal is good with a lot of 2 to 10 pound blues and Channel Cats with the occasional.m 20-30 pounder. for the shallow water bite set up around Cypress trees in 4 to 5 foot of water and fish cut herring or shad. In the diversion canal drift fishing with Carolina Rigs bumping the bottom with livers, cut herring and shad. drifting out in the main lakes in 20-25 foot of water has also been producing good numbers of catfish. FishSantee Cooper rigs, baited with herring and shad.

Bass are mostly in their summer time patterns! Lots of fish on the upper end of Marion are being caught in shallow water using top water frogs and Texas rigs ! Down lake and lake moultrie water is a lot cleaner and fish are hanging out in the offshore grass, brush piles, and ledges! You can target those fish with Texas rigs, Carolina rigs, deep diving crank baits, and hair jigs

It was an ideal day to visit Hickory Bluff Berry Farm in Holly Hill today. We grabbed some fresh zucchini, yellow watermelon, green beans, sweet cantaloupe, heirloom tomatoes, blueberries, chicken dipping sauce and some garlic Parmesan dressing. We plan on eatin' good this week!! Tonight is the last chance you have to go to their fun filled evening "Friday Night at the Farm" event.
