The centuries-old "infiorata" of Gerano goes beyond national and continental borders and even lands in the United States of America . Historic milestone for the master flower decorators of the Municipality of Gerano, over a thousand inhabitants, an ancient village located between the City of Tivoli and that of Subiaco, northeast of the Capital. A centuries-old flower display that has made the small village famous and now the splendid figures and floral paintings have also arrived in Florida, in the territory overlooking the Gulf of Mexico in the city of Sarasota. The invitation to the master flower arrangers of Gerano came on the occasion of the “Sarasota Int'I Chalk Festival" which takes place once a year in the suggestive setting of the town in the State of Florida. Naturally, they certainly did not decline an invitation of this kind in Gerano and a large company of floral experts reached the City of Sarasota to show the floral techniques of the small town in the Aniene Valley but also to create their work and concretely demonstrate the technique and skill of the Italian flower arrangers. «A large delegation - explain the Gerano Committee - has reached the United States to show industry professionals, American artists but also the simply curious, the secrets and techniques of the oldest Infiorata in Italy, a candidate for UNESCO Intangible Heritage». A festival in the town of Florida inspired by the Italians and the master flower arrangers themselves explain it: «A real street art festival inspired by the Italian Madonnari in the 70s and which is still alive today and where artists from from all over the world present stunning works and techniques.”

But the masters of Gerano have also amazed in the USA with their floral creations, receiving approval and words of esteem and admiration from the large audience present at the event. And naturally, in addition to showing and teaching the techniques, they have also composed their floral paintings inspired by the "Madonna del Cuore" to whom the town in the Aniene Valley has dedicated its floral carpet for three centuries. "The final work, made entirely with flower petals and depicting the Madonna del Cuore to whom Gerano has dedicated its Floral Carpet for three centuries - the committee said - left those present amazed and in awe. An act of faith and great mastery that reaffirms even thousands of kilometers away how flower petals represent the history, roots and above all the faith of this community." Naturally, there is great satisfaction in the town for the call and the American success and it is the mayor himself who thanks the flower masters and all the staff for the success: «An act of faith and great mastery – reiterates the mayor Danilo Felici – which reaffirms even thousands of kilometers away the skill and mastery of our community. The event has taken on even greater resonance given the candidacy of the Gerano Infiorata together with other realities as a UNESCO Intangible Heritage. Congratulations indeed to our Flower Masters». In Gerano, to commemorate the three centuries of the flower festival,

a museum has also been created that is worth a visit and where the testimonies of the flower festival in honor of the Madonna del Cuore are collected. The 2024 edition saw three days of celebration from April 26 to 28.

We’re thrilled to announce the return of Santiago from Guanajuato, Mexico, to the Sarasota International Chalk Festival, November 8-10! - get tickets now, only 2 weeks - chalk.LOVE

Santiago developed a passion for art at a young age, leading him to study plastic arts at the University of Guanajuato. Since then, he has become a master of anamorphosis, or "3D" art, captivating audiences with his skillful illusions that leap off the pavement!

Santiago first explored the Madonnari technique in 2010 and soon earned awards across Guanajuato. In 2014, he won first place at the Puerto Vallarta Madonnari Festival, then represented Puerto Vallarta in Santa Barbara, California, in 2015. Later that year, Santiago joined us in Venice, Florida, where he collaborated on a record-breaking large-scale anamorphic artwork designed by Kurt Wenner. He even created his own personal piece after completing the team artwork, a testament to his passion and dedication!

With a global artistic journey, Santiago has performed at festivals across the U.S., Italy, France, and Germany, showcasing his amazing talent. His 3D chalk art is a true performance — creating illusions that captivate viewers before they vanish.
