My recent visit to Costa Maya on MSC cruises. These are the Chacchoben ruins only an hour from Costa Maya, so it is a 1/2 day trip. Not as impressive as Chichen Itza but still a good alternative if you don' t have all day.

Blue World Research Institute is looking for help for their Right Whale Sighting Network. it's currently whale season in Florida and we will be conducting several educational presentations on North Atlantic right whales during the month of January. These classes are free and there's no need to register. Please consider attending to learn why your involvement is so important. There are only about 350 left and you can make a difference in their conservation. We rely on reports from the public to help us protect them from close approaches and vessel strikes, which kill many of them.

This season the aerial survey teams have been grounded often due to bad weather. This is when shore-based spotters become even more important. We can look from land when they can't look from the air.

Please report sightings of whales, even if you're not sure that's what you're seeing. Call 888-97-WHALE (888-979-4253). In the meantime, leave questions below and we hope to see you at one of the upcoming classes!
