Yesterday's 2024 YP Summit, presented by Kerkering, Barberio & Co., was incredible! What’s the best piece of professional advice you have been given?
"One of the most influential pieces of advice I have received is that you should always remain coachable and receptive to feedback. Personally, I love receiving feedback! I believe when your team is on the same page and comfortable enough to share feedback and constructive criticism without hesitation, it builds a stronger team and allows for growth professionally and personally."

What’s your favorite thing about Sarasota?
"I’ve been in Florida since 2020, but moved to Sarasota in 2024. There’s so many
positive things I can say about Sarasota, but my favorite part is being so close to the
beach!"

What’s one (or two) things people would say you do really well?
"I think my ability to problem solve and how quickly I can execute tasks are two of my strongest attributes. When I began my career with Fly Dance Fitness, I quickly
assessed what we were doing in terms of development and efficiency and proposed
quick but scalable solutions to streamline a lot of our business processes. I love a
good deadline whether it’s for a marketing campaign, event, or providing support to
our franchisees."

What would you say you need the most help with?
"I am the first one to say “Yes, I can do that!” and can easily overwhelm myself with a
large to-do list. We currently are a small but mighty team and I tend to volunteer
myself a lot to new tasks. Making a list and ordering tasks by level of priority seems
to help a lot, but it is definitely something I want to continue to work on!"

What’s the best piece of professional advice you have been given?
"Always choose love over comfort. It’s comfortable to slack, to complain, to compare, to avoid, but we must choose to take action from a proactive and compassionate standpoint. For example, it may be difficult to deal with rejection, especially in sales, but when you truly believe in what value you can provide, that love and desire to help others will triumph over the discomfort."

What’s your favorite thing about Sarasota?
"I love the “relaxed, beachy” lifestyle that Sarasota provides, with excellent education systems, resources, and locals. I truly think Sarasota is a gem compared to other cities in FL, as it isn’t nearly as congested and has more of a community feel. You really can’t beat the beaches here, either!"

What’s one (or two) things people would say you do really well?
"I specialize in empathy and inter-personal relationships. I love to connect with others on a deeper level, provide insight, validation, and support. I’m a very curious person, so I seek to know what makes you, you. This is why I truly love recruiting, as coaching and connecting individuals to careers provides an opportunity for me to connect with candidates on a deeper level."

What would you say you need the most help with?
"I would like to improve my skillset with technology (excel specifically), as well as continue to grow my mental strength by combatting cognitive biases & narratives to open myself to more opportunities and connections."

What’s the best piece of professional advice you have been given?
"The best piece of professional advice I have been given thus far has been to go into private practice. I worked at a couple different nonprofits throughout graduate school and after graduation. Being employed at nonprofits gave me the experience to work with a wide range of disorders which was beneficial to my growth as a clinician. However, it also came with minimal schedule flexibility and no say in the types of clients I wanted to work with. Moving into private practice has given me the opportunity to build my caseload with the types of clients I enjoy working with as well as managing my own schedule."

What’s your favorite thing about Sarasota?
"My favorite thing about Sarasota is living close to the beach. I look forward to chill beach days with a pub sub on the weekends."

What’s one (or two) things people would say you do really well?
"People in my life would say I have a good work life balance. I love what I do so I am grateful that not every day feels like work. In my free time I am often planning events with family, friends, going to concerts or sporting events and making travel plans. I make sure to take full advantage of living my life to the fullest!"

What would you say you need the most help with?
"I would say I need the most help with being more involved in the community. Part of my reasoning for joining YPG was to open myself up to new opportunities and connections that would help me towards my goal."

Nominate a Rising Star for the 2024 Young Professional of the Year Award. Recognize the exceptional talent and contributions of young professionals in Sarasota County. Follow these guidelines to nominate a deserving individual or yourself for this prestigious award. Nominations can be sent to [email protected] – please include the nominee’s email and contact information. Nomination deadline is June 24th.

1. Nominations can be made by employers and peers. Self-nominations are also accepted. (2 per person)
2. Nominees must be an active member of the Sarasota Young Professionals Group and work for a Chamber member organization.
3.Nominees must be under 40 at time of nomination, and live or work within Sarasota County.
4. All eligible nominations will be reviewed by a panel of community leaders to determine the finalists and winner.
5. Finalists MUST be available to attend the 2024 YP Summit on August 21st.

"The best piece of professional advice I have received is to practice patience. I have a tendency to rush into assignments, eager to complete them before deadlines. However, I've found that the more pressure I put on myself, the more errors I make in my work. Being patient with both myself and my tasks ultimately enhances my productivity."

What do you appreciate most about Sarasota?
"My favorite aspect of Sarasota is its ability to bring me closer to my family and friends, all of whom reside here. While the scenic ocean views and beautiful architecture are delightful, it's the presence of my loved ones that truly makes Sarasota the ideal place to live."

What are one or two things people would say you excel at?
"People often commend me for my openness and honesty. I believe maintaining a positive outlook on life and being truthful with others are integral parts of my identity. I take pride in leading an honest life."

In what area do you feel you need the most assistance?
"I believe I could benefit most from assistance with time management. Balancing work, life, and scheduling can sometimes be challenging for me. Improving in this area is a daily goal for me."
