Reminder: Lido Beach is Fido-free. Whether on or off leash, dogs can scare nesting shorebirds, including black skimmers, a threatened and protected species with a colony on Lido Beach. 🐶🌊 The only dog beach in the Sarasota area is Brohard Beach and Paw Park in Venice. update on the South Siesta Key Beach Repair Project: Starting Thursday, May 25, beach repair work will begin south of the sand stockpile. Construction activities will be very similar to the north beach work. As activity moves southward, the beach will be closed in approximately 500-foot sections. This is an important safety measure for workers and the public alike.

Finish grading and dressing of the north beach will take place through Friday, May 26, and the north beach is anticipated to open to the public on Saturday, May 27. Please see the map below for a general layout of the work at Turtle Beach Park. Park users, residents and visitors are encouraged to use caution near construction zones and in areas of traffic control.

5:30 p.m. Oct. 1 - Water, Meals-Ready-to-Eat (MREs) and ice will be distributed Saturday, Oct. 1, at Englewood Center Plaza, 200 S. Indiana Ave., Englewood. Supplies will be available as they arrive and while they last or until 7 p.m.

More neighborhood points of distribution will come online as supplies become available.

1:40 p.m. Oct. 1 - Water, Meals-Ready-to-Eat (MREs) and ice will be distributed Saturday, Oct. 1, at Twin Lakes Park, 6700 Clark Road, Sarasota.

Water and Meals-Ready-to-Eat will be distributed today at Venice Community Center, 326 Nokomis Ave., Venice. Supplies will be available as they arrive and while they last or until 7 p.m.

More neighborhood points of distribution will come online as supplies become available.

9:25 OCT. 1 - Sarasota County and its partners are experiencing supply issues for the Neighborhood Points of Distribution. Please be as patient as possible, we will inform the public of the Neighborhood Point of Distribution opening as soon as possible.
