The Sausalito Sustainable Waterfront Association (SSWA) is excited to announce the First Annual Sausalito Crab Festival, a community-focused event celebrating and supporting Sausalito’s hardworking crab fishing fleet!

The festival will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Fish Restuarant in Clipper Yacht Harbor, marking the start of crab season with a day of delicious food, music, and community spirit.

Event Highlights:

● Freshly cooked crab prepared by Fish Restaurant, alongside creative crab-inspired dishes.
● Takeaway options, including fresh crab for at-home enjoyment.
● Cold and warm beverages to pair with the fare.
● Live music and engaging conversations highlighting the importance of Sausalito’s crab fishing industry.

The Sausalito Crab Festival brings the community together to honor the dedication of Sausalito’s fishermen and celebrate the area’s maritime heritage. Attendees are encouraged to invite friends and family to join in this unique waterfront experience. ALL PROCEEDS GO TO THE FISHING FLEET!

In conjunction, H&M Marine, Silver Seas Yachts, Jeff Brown Yachts, Williams Group Marine, Rifkin Yachts, Club Nautique and KKMI will showcase a selection of boats at Clipper Yacht Harbor. Visitors can explore a range of vessels, from luxury yachts to versatile boats, while enjoying the festivities. Another year has come and gone.

When I look back at 2024 and see these pictures I think about how hard we worked as a crew to offer the best fishing experience possible. I can honestly say since the salmon closure we’ve become better fishermen.

Being raised on salmon and learning from the best it’s no secret what we’re good at. But over the last two years we had to adapt to survive.

This year we’re extremely proud of our increase in productivity in San Francisco Bay. A challenge but fun fishery, it’s extremely tide based.

Early summer we slid out to the ocean and had what I would call a week of the best halibut fishing I’ve ever seen. We had a few days of limits with the average fish pushing 18lbs.

Summer turned to fall and we chased albacore offshore producing scores up to 54 fish on live bait.

Once the deep water opened we went to the bank and had big days on giant rockfish and lingcod.

November rolled around and we worked hard producing good numbers and limits of crab on a down year.

Reflecting back on the year I feel thankful for everyone that came out and supported us. Without you guys none of this would be possible. The crew and I thank you and look forward to 2025.

Fingers crossed for some salmon in 2025!

Winter has officially arrived here in Northern California. We gave it a go this morning but unfortunately the weather gods were against us. Safety is always our number one priority.

No question the weather windows have gotten smaller. If you’d like to get out before the season is over it might take a little flexibility.

WEDNESDAY looks like the best weather for the week and we have 11 open spots.

I know this time of year can be challenging with the weather but we appreciate everyone working with us.

No sugar coating this one. The albacore bite went to crumbs for the fleet today. If you got a couple you were very fortunate. We went up to Cordell Banks to look around and found schools of bluefin tuna feeding on saury. We put the big gear out and watched tuna breaking water for hours. A few BFT were land but we weren’t so lucky. We’re taking some time off from the tuna. If something catches our interest again we will let you know.

Another great haul out with our friends at KKMI. We spent two weeks in Richmond working hard to get the boat ready for the 2024 season. It was fun seeing the other charter boats and catching up with old friends as everyone gets ready. Hoping for a successful season for everyone!
