We love dogs! And we like to transport your 4 legged friends for free. It's been that way since we started, and we have hauled a lot of dogs, 168 this year alone!

Bit here's the rub. If you bring too many dogs, or dogs that are really large, we may be forced to take the bigger boat for a smaller group of passengers. (3 or 4)

3 or 4 passengers would be fine on the smaller boat but with large or lots of dogs we may run out of space.

So we are going to change our policy.

We will continue to transport your dogs for free with your paid fare, as long as space is available on the boat. If we have to take a larger boat to include your dogs, we will charge the difference in dollars for the bigger boat. If we have to add a boat to transport dogs (or cats, bunnies, raccoons or chickens:-) We will charge you the boat minimum for that trip.

Thanks for understanding...

Updating some stats...
Hours on our (almost) 2 year old Suzuki 300, 694.7.
Miles travelled, 11,802.
Gallons of gas used, 3,480.
Miles per gallon, 3.39 statute. (pretty consistent since put in service)
Gallons per operating hour, 5.01
Average speed 16.98
The motor has been fantastic, and we recommend Suzuki power without reservation. Our 300 and our 150 have safely gotten 2360 passengers to their destination this year. We hope to carry 2500 souls by year end. Thanks for your business and support!

As members of the islands community, we believe it is important to support our friends and neighbors; and we know the best way to experience a sense of camaraderie is to be part of a team doing important things.
The Chatham County Fire Department wanted to conduct water rescue training in the river, in both day and night conditions.
Chatham Fire asked our host marina, Savannah Boathouse for help.
Of course manager Kirsten said yes, then pointed them towards Freedom Boat Club of Savannah and us.
We all pitched in. Yesterday was characterized by high-intensity training in the river. First you train in daylight , then you train in darkness. Working with these fine young gentlemen brought back memories of past adventures with Army Rangers, SF, and Navy SEALS. The common character trait? Capable souls with can-do attitudes! It was a pleasure and an honor to serve them!

🔍 Did You Know? 🦪

After the Civil War, plantation owners abandoned Daufuskie Island, and formerly enslaved people returned, purchasing land and building the now-historic Gullah cottages. These residents created thriving communities, working in farming, logging, and oyster canning—industries that shaped life on the island for decades. 🦪🌾

By the mid-1900s, as these industries faded, many islanders had to seek work elsewhere, leaving some of these cherished homes to fall into disrepair. But thanks to a grant from the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation’s “Daufuskie Island Endangered Places Program,” many of these homes and historic structures have been beautifully restored.

Today, a tour on the island feels like stepping back in time, capturing the spirit and resilience of the Gullah people. This 1939 photo of Gullah men working on oyster beds shows just how deeply connected they were to Daufuskie’s land and waters. 🌊✨

Our holiday schedule is filling up! (Thank goodness!) This gives us more ways to serve a solo traveler or couple without having to charge the boat minimum for a DI run. Our per-person fare with luggage is $50 each way, but we must collect $150 per operating hour or we are losing money on the trip. A DI run is--you guessed it--1 hour. Many of our regulars pay the minimum without a wince, but some folks are looking for a better deal. If you are flexible on your dates and/or times for travel, we will help you if we can.

We had a great time taking this family on a loop tour! 3 generations saw the sights and heard the stories.
They won this experience by buying raffle tickets for the Tybee YMCA's fund-raising program to support breast cancer research, and support for those dealing with it. As 3 of our friends are in the middle of this fight, it was an easy choice for us to donate this gift.
Hold fast ladies, help is on the way!

Did you know? We provide boater training in addition to charters and Daufuskie Island, South Carolina trips.
We can use your boat or ours! These happy captains enjoyed a 90 minute classroom session followed by a 90 minute on-water practical exercise. And man! It were pretty out there!!!
