And our second speaker has been announced for MacabreCon this August!
We are also thrilled to announce that Steve Parsons will be presenting at MacabreCon!
Described by The Wall Street Journal as setting “The Gold Standard in Ghost Hunting,” Steve has spent over 50 years investigating and researching ghosts, poltergeists, haunted houses, and related phenomena. His lifelong search for answers began in childhood, and today, he is widely recognised by both peers and academic parapsychologists as one of the UK’s leading paranormal investigators.
He remains actively engaged in the field, with a strong focus on observing, measuring, and documenting environmental factors associated with reported paranormal experiences. Throughout his career, Steve has played a key role in numerous investigations, pioneering new methods and techniques for gathering data on-site — many of which are now standard practice among other investigators.
Known for his forthright, analytical, and no-nonsense approach, he has earned a reputation for uncovering rational explanations where they exist and for advocating rigorous standards in paranormal research. In the past decade, much of his time has been dedicated to training investigators and promoting ethical, evidence-based methods of ghost investigation.
As a respected figure in the field, Steve is frequently sought after as an independent advisor, providing support, training, and analysis of potential evidence for fellow investigators and others. He serves as a Council member for The Society for Psychical Research, the world’s leading organisation for paranormal studies, and is an Advisor to The Ghost Club, the world’s oldest ghost research group. Additionally, he oversees all investigator training for ASSAP (The Association forthe Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena).
Steve is the author of several highly regarded books, including Ghostology: The Art of the GhostHunter and Paracoustics: Sound and the Paranormal. His work is frequently cited in academic journals, books, and major media outlets. In 2018, he was commissioned by The Society for Psychical Research to produce a new edition of their Guidance Notes for Investigators of Spontaneous Cases, followed by an extensive set of Equipment Use Guidance Notes for Investigators in 2021. He is currently finalising the manuscript for his next book Paravision: Vision and the Paranormal.
Since 2012, Steve has co-hosted the popular radio show and podcast Ghost Chronicles International. His expertise has been featured in numerous television documentaries for networks such as The Discovery Channel, National Geographic, the BBC, and NHK Japan. He has also contributed to well-known paranormal TV series, including the UK’s Most Haunted, In Search of, and most recently, the BBC’s Uncanny series.
