Hello y'all from the SAA Theatre Department. The new school year is rapidly approaching. We have a Theatre SAA Theatre Guild Official meeting on 7/22. Please visit the the Guild's page for details. We also have a theatre wish list we would like your help with. It's a list of disposable items we need to replace each year. Please help where you can. It supports all of the theatre teachers.

We also have a SAA Theatre Workday on 7/20 from 9 - 6 with a one -hour break at noon for lunch. We will be painting several floors, including the stage, helping our new instructor, Mrs. Becky Solis, set up her classroom and move a variety of items around to help the year start smoothly. Working the entire day is not required. Come when you can for as long as you can. We're happy to have any time you can give us.

As always, we so appreciate to phenomenal students and parents of the theatre/thespian programs. Let's get the year started with a lot of family support!

Congratulations, Kennedy Reid!! Savannah Ghost Pirates presented Kennedy with a $1,000 scholarship today. Last week she was presented with THE DOUGLAS W. MUMMERT SCHOLARSHIP ($10,000). This scholarship is awarded to students pursuing a career in any aspect of the television industry, who have made a positive impact through community service. Kennedy, we are so proud of all your accomplishments!

We are ready for AP Testing next week. Here are some reminders:

•Arrive at 7:40 or 11:40 for your exams
•Paper and pencil exams require WOODEN, #2 ✏️ and blue/black 🖊️
•Digital exams require students to bring their SCHOOL device CHARGED each day of testing. Students who use a personal device will be given a loaner.
•Digital exams require students to know their COLLEGE BOARD USERNAME AND PASSWORD. If you cannot access your account you will have to be moved to late testing (most of which are after school gets out)
•Bring a snack and a drink. If you have extended time, bring a HOME LUNCH and ROBUST snack on the days you are testing. There is a good possibly you will miss the scheduled lunches in the cafeteria.
•Students should attend 1st lunch on the days they are taking a 12pm exam.
•Electronic devices are prohibited from the testing room (except Chromebooks for digital testing)
•If you are an accommodated student and wish to waive any of your accommodations, you must notify Mrs. Hoffman at least 3-days prior to your exam. Students taking digital exams with extended time must sit for the entire amount of time given. If you finish early, the submit button will not be available until your entire time has expired.
•Check your email associated with your College Board account frequently during exam weeks. You are receiving important information about your exam locations.
•If your exam allows for a calculator, you are responsible to bring one to the exam.
•If your exam is not listed in the performance hall or gym, you will be taking it in a classroom, again check your email frequently.

We are very excited to share our Outdoor Concert 2024 with you this Friday, May 3 (6:00-8:30 pm) from the front steps of Savannah Arts Academy!

To offer the best sound possible given an outdoor acoustic, we hired a professional sound company to ensure our audience can hear the ensembles and featured soloists.

In lieu of a concert ticket, we hope to garner a small donation from attendees to offset the cost of the sound system. We have a cash app account to use for the donation and any amount will directly benefit the audience and performers. Thank you for considering and we hope to see you Friday!

Physicals will be on Tuesday, May 14 from 3:30-5:30 at Beach High School for $10 cash. The physical will be valid for the entire 2024-25 school year for dance students and anyone wishing to participate in any sport at Savannah Arts Academy.

Tomorrow, we begin our GMAS EOC assessment window. The EOC schedule is as follows: Biology 4/25, US History 4/26, American Lit/Comp 4/29-5/01, and Algebra Connections and Concepts 5/02-5/03. Students need to arrive to school EARLY and ready to test at their scheduled time. If a student arrives to the testing session late, they will be required to test during a make-up session. Students should bring several pencils and their loaned SCCPSS CHARGED device each day they are testing. If a student uses a personal device, a school device will be available for them to use during the exam. Finally, students with accommodations should check their email for their testing location(s).
