Boeing projects that the aviation industry will require more than 41,000 new airplanes by 2041 in order to meet the increasing demand for air travel.

This resurgence in demand follows a period of recovery in virtually all domestic markets around the world due to the pandemic as Boeing released its 2022 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO) in advance of the Farnborough International Airshow.

In a somewhat surprising move, United Airlines said they will end service between San Diego (SAN) and Los Angeles (LAX) with their last flight on October 28th.

A spokesperson confirmed the move to a number of local news outlets in San Diego and cited 'several factors' for the cut, including customer demand and operational resources.

The IATA (International Air Transport Association), the trade association that represents the majority of the world's airlines, criticized the Canadian government (Canada) for its ongoing, punitive Covid-19 travel restrictions and is calling on the government to 'urgently discontinue' them.

The IATA says Canada is 'out of step' with the trend of looser/ending rules, restrictions and is even partly to blame for travel delays and disruptions hitting Canada's airports.

Traveling and/or vacationing to Belize just got a whole easier...

The Tourism Board of Belize announced last night (Thursday) that the government of Belize is lifting all Covid-19 restrictions for anyone entering the country effective immediately.

This includes every land (airports) and sea port in to the country of Belize.

Emirates Airline has openly slammed London Heathrow Airport (LHR) for their plans to limit the number of passengers that can pass through and fly in a day and the time deadline in which to do it.

Heathrow said they will limit the number of tickets that airlines can sell (that fly out of LHR) and if they already have reached that number they cannot sell any more.

Airlines reportedly have been given 36 hours to comply with the cuts.

Emirates is, shall we say, less than thrilled.

Frontier has always 'seemed' to be the front-runner in its (literal) bid to acquire Spirit Airlines, even with JetBlue breathing down its (Frontier's) neck with aggressive offers of their own.

Executives at United Airlines believe that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) should shoulder some of the blame for the summer's disaster of delayed and cancelled flights which has hit airlines and airports around the world.

This is in contrast to the government's denial of any responsibility. The FAA is being at least partly blamed for air traffic control problems and other infrastructure issues as the cause of mounting cancellations over the summer's busiest travel days.

In what could be taken as 'sour grapes' by some, a report suggests Alaska Airlines is considering closing crew bases in California after they lost a lawsuit which will now force the carrier to give flight attendants flying in an out of the state longer breaks than mandated by federal regulations.

KLM has said they intend to cut "10 to 20" flights per day at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) through most of the summer as the carrier struggles to cope with staffing issues.

Schiphol is also limiting the number of flights airlines can operate out of their airport as they continuously are dealing with ultra-long security screening lines and other related operational strains.

Some reports say screening lines are 4-5 hours long.…

Fort Lauderdale has at least 28 cities on tap for great prices (Orlando, Memphis, Knoxville, New Orleans, Houston, Chicago, Philly and a ton more). FLL also has a great fare to Sint Maarten...a bucket list destination! Miami has a fare to Buenos Aires which is 4-500 cheaper than normal and a special to Tenerife (Canary Islands)...book direct with SAS. Miami also has some really good fares to Italy...notably Rome and Venice.

Orange County (CA) still has routes to a few cities, Portland still has one fare to Edinburgh (will be gone TODAY). Similarly, St. Louis has some Southern International destinations that will probably be gone after today.

I knew I needed a big change and I started looking around. For some reason, Scottsdale kept popping in to my head. I had never actually been to Scottsdale, but I figured why not give it a whirl?

4 months later, I was living in the land of b**b jobs and golf courses.

So what happened for the next year? Getting nothing done and drinking too much.

United Airlines says they will cut 50 daily flights at Newark Liberty International Airport in an effort to alleviate the airport passenger gridlock that has been plaguing not only UA but many airports and airlines around the world.

According to The Points Guy, this will 'only' affect domestic flights and flights that have 'multiple frequencies'...meaning no cities will be cut out entirely...just the amount of times they fly there.

This is pretty damn significant for United. Newark is one of carriers' main hubs and its New York area hub.

So maybe my claims of vacations and divorce settlements with JetBlue and Spirit Airlines are a bit exaggerated. But JetBlue apparently really badly wants to acquire Spirit, and is even willing to let them have their own bedroom if they will just move in!

If you'll recall, Frontier announced back in April they were making an acquisition offer (in the 2 billion range) to Spirit and it felt like it was just a matter of cleaning the house before Spirit would then shack up.

Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, is warning U.S. airlines to stop cancelling flights last-minute on flyers at the airport. He says the government has the 'authority' to force the airlines to hire more workers. My first thought was 'no he doesn't', then I remembered all those billions they handed out to them.

Airlines the world over were apparently not prepared for the record rush of traveling post-pandemic. They must've thought no one would have the money for travel because you had to assume people were more than ready to get the hell outta dodge...

American Airlines is cutting routes in Charlotte because not everything under the sun is rebounding.

Speaking of a rebound...it AIN'T less cancelled flights...they're just getting worse...just ask London Heathrow and Dallas.

Speaking of disasters, Air India seems on the verge of ordering a record 300 Airbus and Boeing planes at a cool cost of 40 BIL.
