Artist Cannula Hanska Lugar presents the centerpiece โSomething to Hold Ontoโ. An immersive installation made up of over 7,000 handmade clay beads, each one representing a life lost along the US-Mexico border over the last 30 years.
The collaborative floor installation will be a pathway and guide for the beads to create an interpretive maze by Oโodham (Pima) artists Dwayne Manuel and Thomas โBreezeโ Marcus. Their contribution reflects the reality of Oโodham and other tribes along the international border.
The exhibition is accompanied by artwork and a pop-up educational experience by Tanya Aguiniga, Anthony Collins and Chelsey Luger.
