We recently partnered with the Arizona Department of Child Safety to give children in foster care a wonderful Christmas. Individuals and groups of associates selected names from the “giving tree” and gifted the children toys from their wish list.

We continue highlighting our courses' philanthropic and community efforts across the globe. Today we highlight Hunting Creek Country Club for their annual adoption of two local nursing homes in their community: Beehive and StoryPoint. Together with their members last year, they raised $7,000 worth of wish list items for the residents, brightening their holiday season with gifts, love, and carols.

🎶 They sang, laughed, and shared moments of joy, delivering gifts and smiles to those who often don't have family around or struggle to get the things they need. This was all possible because of the incredible generosity of so many who gave time, talent, and resources to make it happen.

Now, as they embark on their 3rd year in a row, we are all reminded why they do this: to spread grace and kindness where it’s most needed. 🌟

The Clubs at St. James located in Southport, North Carolina, has become a community leader in supporting military veterans. In honor of Austin Murga, a U.S. Army Captain who tragically lost his life to PTSD-related su***de, the club hosts the annual Captain Austin Murga Memorial Golf Tournament.

This event has raised over $300,000 for Stop Soldier Su***de, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting service members struggling with mental health. Celebrating a Decade of Dedication: The Patriot Cup at Monarch Beach Golf Links

For the past ten years, Monarch Beach Golf Links has been honored to host the Southern California Folds of Honor fundraiser, an event that embodies community, service, and the spirit of patriotism. Now known as the Patriot Cup, this annual fall gathering has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated and impactful fundraisers. Thanks to the unwavering support of Monarch Beach Golf Links, the Southern California PGA, and countless golfers and sponsors, the event has raised over $2 million to fund educational scholarships for the families of fallen and disabled military service members.

Diane Sturla never imagined leaving her corporate finance job in healthcare to pursue a culinary career. But when her son started culinary school, their shared love of cooking led them to start a catering business. Diane, eager to learn, enrolled in culinary courses despite the challenges of being an older woman entering a male-dominated field during a recession.

The business grew, and soon a Michelin-starred chef joined their team, suggesting they open a restaurant. Diane took the leap, opening a successful restaurant that won multiple local awards. But with a large growing restaurant, she found herself less and less in the kitchen, which is where she loved to be. Diane and her partners sold the restaurant just before the country shut down for the pandemic.

During the pandemic, Diane shifted to consulting and was offered an executive chef position for one of her clients. She worked at several local restaurants and eventually found a home at San Juan Oaks, where she oversees their three restaurants: Slices, McCann's and they recently opened 36° North. Diane’s seasonal menu at 36° North focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. She builds relationships with local farmers in the area, often meeting them at farmers' markets. By creating that relationship, the farmers will help to deliver her unexpected fresh produce and give her ideas for ways to highlight the produce.

When we asked Diane to give us some tips on any holiday feasts, her philosophy is simple: let the ingredients shine. She encourages others not to overcomplicate meals and to cherish the time spent with loved ones. “Too often we put too much pressure on the Instagram quality presentation around the holidays. Let the local ingredients speak for themselves and enjoy the time with family – that is what is important.” She recommended buying a pie or dessert from a local bakery, “Support the small businesses and let’s be honest, they can often bake it better than we can - and it's one less thing on our to-do list.”

What began as a career shift driven by passion and curiosity has blossomed into a fulfilling journey of creativity, community, and culinary excellence.
