Good news from travelers through Vallejo, Solano County: the groundbreaking of a new Divergent Diamond Interchange (DDI) at the SR37 and Fairground Dr. interchange in Vallejo (see photo for example).

The new project will improve access to popular destinations like Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Sonoma County- including The Sea Ranch, and Wine Country, ensuring a safer and more efficient commute. A big thank you to the Solano Transportation Authority, the City of Vallejo, and Solano County for their collaboration in making this new gateway a reality.

The bad news- SR37 and Fairground Dr will be under construction. The Solano Transportation Authority (STA) estimates that the SR37/Fairgrounds Drive Interchange will be completed in Winter 2025.

While the article is predominantly about The Lodge- it does provide a peek into the community too:

The team spent an intensive year studying native plants, wildlife, soil, and climate. Any and all development should support the natural environment rather than degrade it. It was a high ideal and resulted in a rigid set of design rules for builders. The original handbook of guidelines was 111 pages and included details about the required height of fencing, scale of entryways, and even the color of window sashes. Homes could be no taller than two stories, clad in vertical redwood or cedar shingles. Parked cars had to be hidden, power lines buried. Only a specific list of approved, native species could be planted. Prominent graphic treatments by San Francisco designer Barbara Stauffacher Solomon — including the iconic ram’s head avatar, colorful locker-room murals, and oversize wayfinding signage — came to define the distinctive look of Sea Ranch.

After a major renovation, the lodge 100 miles north of San Francisco is calling to a new generation of the city-weary and the design-conscious.

Are you aware that Coastal Seniors offers a transportation service for local seniors aged 60+, individuals with disabilities, their spouses, and caregivers?

Unfortunately, due to the theft of catalytic converters from our buses, this service is temporarily unavailable until repairs are made, which is going to cost thousands of dollars. Our transportation service is vital for our senior community, providing transportation to medical appointments, classes, and local errands, both in and out of town.
