Lucky for their dive lights, but it sounds like no DiveAlert, SMB, or Nautilus GPS. Glad they were found, hopefully they take further precautions in the future! We hope all divers do!!

A miracle rescue of an Edmond couple took place around 1 a.m. on Friday in the Gulf of Mexico. They disappeared while scuba diving off the coast of Texas and their loved ones feared the worst.

We were diving this past weekend here in the Ft.Lauderdale/South Florida area waters as we do weekly…
We all hunt and one of our dive members Adrian had shot a fish, Peter and myself were watching as he was securing the fish and his equipment when all of a sudden an 8-10’ Hammerhead Shark came in for a quick viewing of a hopeful lunch.
As the hammer approached Adrian 3-5’ away and who was unaware of his visitor, Peter quickly use the Dive Alert/Quacker option to startle the Hammer and aware Adrian of the situation, I then also use the Quacker option too which did startle and move the Hammer back on to his cruising/hunting journey not to be seen again that dive.
It was quite thrilling as it is always to see a shark but it was also interesting to see a underwater device that startles sharks too.

So yes, the Dive Alert with its multi-function use can now add Shark Deterrent to its features.

Today is the 103 year anniversary of the SS Governors' sinking off Point Wilson in the Puget Sound. Amazing dive, and in the middle of the shipping lanes. All divers had either a DiveAlert, SMB, and a Nautilus GPS (most of us had all three!) Tip of the hat to Ron Akeson and Phil at Lu Jac's Quest for putting up with the stress of our motley crew!

Today is the 97th anniversary of the tugboat Bahada sinking off Huckleberry and Saddlebag Islands in Washington State. Today we went out with the original dive crew (Paul Hangartner, Rob Wilson & myself) along with Shawn Murphy (historian on the Bahada), Peter Hunt as Captain, Dan Crooks first mate, Bret Lunsford from the Anacortes Museum, and Jan Gilkey who's family owned the tug. Great day for storytelling and remembrance.
