Our tours are painstakingly planned, thoughtfully paced and full of vivid adventure. Whether introducing someone to their first bike tour or catering to the experienced cyclist, we’re all about enjoying the beauties of the byways and back roads we traverse. Life is just better from the seat of a bicycle. , , . History: Bicycle Adventures was begun in 1984 with one van and a multi-day bicycle tour of Washington’s San Juan Islands. The original owners added new Northwest destinations over time, growing the company to 100+ tour departures. In 2008 Bicycle Adventures was purchased by Todd Starnes and Brad Barnard, two Seattle-area businessmen with deep roots in the bicycling and bike racing industry. The duo moved company headquarters to Redmond, Washington and have continued to expand to new destinations and experiment with new types of tours. Today Bicycle Adventures’ tour offerings include over 60 destinations with some 200+ departure dates.

Japan is currently a hot destination for Americans with an almost 20% increase in American tourists over the last year and it's easy to see why! And because Bicycle Adventures puts a cycling twist on everything it's not surprising that we offer a fabulous 10-day tour in Japan. If you're looking for a bike-focused, intermediate, trip, look no further than our Japan - Nagano Highlands to the Sea tour.

Follow the link below to read Todd Starnes's (Bicycle Adventures owner) take on why he designed this tour and the cycling and experiences it offers. Our itinerary has changed slightly since writing due to the earthquake damage on the Noto Peninsula but still offers great riding near the sea to finish out the ten-day tour.

Are you having as much fun riding bikes this summer as we are? Would you like to extend your biking season into the fall and beyond? Join us for a fall bike tour in Palm Springs! Our 5-day Joshua Tree & Anza Borrego tour explores the diversity and beauty of the Coachella Valley and greater Palm Springs region. But ultimately, Joshua Tree National Park, with its kingdom of golden rock outcroppings and eponymous tree-like succulents, is the highlight of this trip! We have tours planned in October and December of this year so there's still plenty of time to book a fall getaway to the place where the Mojave meets the Colorado Desert and the sun shines

Have you thought about a bike tour but are worried that you're not up for it because you don't think of yourself as a cyclist? Me too! So I went on our San Juan Islands tour in June to see what it's really all about and now I'm hooked...and feel good about calling myself a cyclist! Pedal Happy!
~Tracie

After three years on the team at Bicycle Adventures, I finally embarked on my first bike tour this spring. Why did I wait so long, you ask? Well, years of running, skiing, and repeated injuries wore out one of my knees so riding a traditional bike just wasn’t comfortable or much fun for me. But [....

Our new Montana Bitterroots tour kicked off this week with Camille and new guide, Sarah at the helm.

With each pedal stroke, guests are soaking in the gorgeous views that earned Montana the "Big Sky" name as they explore the Bitterroot mountains and valley named after the state flower.

In 1805, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark "discovered" the plant in the western Montana valley that now bears its name and is a culturally significant plant for several Native American tribes in the West.

Happy from all of us at Bicycle Adventures!

We believe in the ride. We believe in riding a bike and all that is right about riding a bike; not how far or how fast……… but how come; what we see, where we go and how we feel is just better when experiencing the world from the seat of a bike.

Pedal Happy!

You’ve probably heard Tommy James and the Shondells 1968 song Crimson and Clover, or tasted Clover Honey, but have you seen Crimson Clover?

This informative video from Ken Wright Cellars in Carleton, OR provides a peek at fields of Crimson Clover abloom in Carleton, Oregon, the beautiful region we ride in our Willamette Valley: A Promised Land Tour and shares the benefits of this incredible plant. It's fascinating!

Advanced cyclists and lovers of climbing, have we got the tour for you! We have limited space available on our exclusive Mt Rainier to Mt. Hood tour this summer. This is a truly exclusive trip, we're not just saying that! Mt Rainier National Park only awards us permits for 10 guests on two tours each year.

This 7-day tour of the Cascade Range starts in Seattle and ends in Portland after experiencing 3 volcanoes (Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, & Mt Hood) and 4 stunning summits. It's not a ride for the faint of heart, but those who complete it will experience views that most of us can only dream of!

If you're open to sharing a room with another solo traveler there is space available on our July 23-29, 2024 tour for both a woman and a man. Or if you prefer a private room, or are traveling with a partner or friend, we have a few spots left on the August 13-19, 2024 tour as well. Give our office a call if you have questions or are ready to sign up for an amazing Cascade Mountain adventure!

Remember that feeling of freedom as a kid when you hopped on your bike and just started riding? The wind in your hair as the trees whipped past in a blur? You can have that feeling at any age on a Bicycle Adventures tour! And a great one to start with is our Trail
of the Coeur d'Alenes tour. Why? Because it's a rail trail tour which means you're primarily riding on dedicated bike paths so you rarely even need to think about traffic as you ride. You can just pedal along taking in the scenery as you ride through nature preserves, alongside rivers, and through some fun historic towns.

We still have space available on tours from June through August so if you haven't locked in your summer plans yet, there's still time to sign up. This tour is perfect if you've never done a bike tour before or if you just like a little more mellow pace. Give our office a call if you have questions or sign up online if you're ready to roll!

While visiting Port Angeles, on the peninsula of Washington State, our Marketing Director did an out and back, from Elwha River towards Sequim on the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) which is part of our Olympic National Park & Discovery Trail tour. Here’s what she had to say...

“Wow! The trail is spectacular. On the way out the sun was shining, the birds were tweeting, and the mountain (Rainier) was peeking its head out. The trail is wide, well-maintained asphalt, with a few small sections of packed gravel. I spied a couple eagles soaring above the trail, a Pacific Harbor Seal in the strait, and a couple of deer meandering along the path. On my way back the fog had rolled in and although I couldn’t see the ships, I could hear them sounding their horns. I can’t wait to return to the peninsula in May and ride more of the trail.”

If you'd like to experience ODT, we have two rooms, four spots remaining on our July 21 departure. https://bicycleadventures.com/tours/olympic-national-park-discovery-trail/
