Subject: Share Your PNW Yachting Insights – Video Interview Opportunity

Hello Captains,

Superyacht Northwest is an organization dedicated to promoting and encouraging yachting in the Pacific Northwest, and we need your help to spread the word. At the upcoming boat show, our team is looking to conduct quick video interviews (just 1-2 minutes) to showcase the incredible experiences the PNW offers to charter guests.

During the interview, we’ll ask you to share your insights on the following topics:
What are some of the most popular or unique experiences, specific to the PNW, that can be curated for charter guests?
Can you share a unique or “WOW” yachting moment you’ve experienced recently in these destinations?
Lessons learned: Are there any key safety or security considerations for cruising in the more remote areas of the PNW?
Were there any surprises or shifts in your preconceived notions about the region?
Which individuals or businesses have you worked with to make your operations in the PNW easier?

If you’re interested in sharing your experiences and stories for use in a promotional video for the area, please contact us at Superyacht Northwest [email protected], and we’ll arrange a time to meet with you during the boat show.

Thank you in advance for your time and support. Your insights will go a long way in highlighting the Pacific Northwest as a premier yachting destination!

Best regards,
The SYNW Team

It's 2024 and we need MORE help for the kids.

Our target families have fallen through the cracks! They aren't getting welfare or other types of assistance. They just need a leg up and to know that someone cares and sees them. Our 30 sets of Santas and Elves that go out on Christmas Eve also make sure that all is well in the homes.

The Captains Association created the "After Care Initiative" and if they note that the family has no electricity or needs a bed or any number of things we go back in January and February and pay bills or do something extra for these people. This is possible because of wonderful people like you and your employers.

Please think of Forgotten Childrens Fund for your tax deductible donations and company matching programs...there's nothing like seeing the looks on kiids faces when Santa walks in and gives a gift and a bike!

Join us in December. Sign up and/or donate now! This years event will be catered by Metropolitan Grill and our first at the Ballard Elks.

Let's do this! Let's help make a difference!

Engineer/Deckhand/Co-Captain

Responsible for maintaining a 77’ motor yacht and operating the vessel anywhere in the world. MVStarr is based at the Waikiki Yacht Club on the island of O’ahu, Hawaii.

This is a hands-on position! You are expected to maintain the vessel in cruise-ready condition at all times.

Engineering responsibilities:
• The captain/engineer is responsible for completing routine maintenance independently
• Replace or repair failed components, including pumps, inverters, electronics, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness in machinery spaces at all times
• Experience with Maretron, Victron, and Axis cameras is a plus!
• Assist owner in planning and executing system upgrades
Exterior responsibilities:
• Weekly washdowns (typically about 6-8 hours per week)
• Keep stainless polished and spot-free
• Keep windows clean and spot-free
• Polish and protect painted surfaces as needed. Budget available for additional help.
Interior responsibilities:
• Willingness to help with household chores like vacuuming and washing dishes.

Cruising responsibilities:
• Support owner in creating cruise plans
o Local day trips
o Multi-week intra-Island Hawaii cruising
o Multi-month international cruising
• Assess weather forecasts and make go-no go decisions
• Manage government formalities
• Dinghy sailing experience a plus!

The ideal candidate has high standards yet is easy going. They’re eager to learn new systems and processes and is a self-starter who excels in solving problems aboard. The role can be physically demanding and may involve lifting, twisting, kneeling and working in small spaces. No smoking but light drinking is acceptable when appropriate. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and experienced, with high-but-reasonable expectations and a willingness to help with projects and mentor crew. This vessel is run family-style; no pressed white uniform, but we expect you’ll treat the owners and guests with respect and eagerness to help. You can read more about the boat, owners, and program at www.mvstarr.com.

Starr will be homeported at Waikiki Yacht Club for the foreseeable future. The engineer/deckhand/co-captain must live nearby (housing allowance and crew car provided), keep Starr clean and operational, and be available for day trips and emergencies. Typically, you’ll have several days’ notice for day trips, and a week or more notice for overnight trips. Day trips occur 2-4x per month and overnight trips are 2-4x per year. Exterior maintenance usually takes about one day per week. The rest of the time is spent troubleshooting and repairing problems, tackling larger maintenance tasks and upgrades, and helping the owner with other projects such as starting an adult dinghy sailing program or helping the local Sea Scout group.
