EYOS Expeditions

EYOS Expeditions Travel, expedition, and yacht management leaders specializing in bespoke expeditions to remote places
(11)

EYOS Expeditions has been designing private super-yacht expeditions since 2008, and today the company is widely recognized as the world leader in their industry. Each year, they operate over 50 expeditions in challenging, remote environments for the most prestigious yachts in the world, and their staff have cumulatively led over 1,200 safe Antarctic expeditions. In 2019, EYOS pioneered the first

ever “single cabin” departures whereby clients could book individual cabins on a yacht. They hold several ‘world’s firsts,’ and they are a two-time Guinness Book of World Record holder for the furthest south that any vessel has ever reached in history. In 2015, they were invited to be a design partner by Damen shipyards to develop the SeaXplorer expedition yacht and most recently, EYOS has managed and led the historic “Five Deeps” expedition, which includes plans for the deepest manned dive ever in history.

Baja California is like a living aquarium, and there’s no better way to explore it than by expedition yacht. This unique peninsula, where the ocean meets the desert, teems with life above and below the water line. Snorkel with inquisitive sea lions and hike among giant cacti. View breeding seabird sanctuaries which dot the coastline and enjoy up-close encounters with gray whales and their calves in the lagoons of the Pacific Coast. Wind down with a cocktail and witness some of the most spectacular sunsets from the top deck. Join EYOS on an incredible exploration of Baja - contact us at [email protected] to get started.

The Geographic South Pole is perhaps the most iconic and exclusive prize for any explorer. We go a step further and undertake a full Grand Traverse (coast to coast) of the Antarctic Continent. The three-week journey across the continent’s frozen interior retraces some of the routes taken by the first polar explorers. Join us on this once in a lifetime private expedition to journey overland from the Weddell Sea to the South Pole and on to the Ross Sea in custom all-wheel drive vehicles. Throughout the journey you’ll be surrounded by the stunning, vast expanse of the polar plateau and follow in the footsteps of those explorers who sledged and skied before us.

Found in all oceans, humpback whales are incredibly charismatic and a favorite species to spot  on many of our expeditions. These whales migrate thousands of miles each year– traveling from summer feeding grounds in cold, nutrient rich waters to their winter calving and mating grounds in warm, clear waters.

Often active, humpbacks breach, cooperatively feed, and slap the surface with their pectoral fins or tails – you’ll want to be on deck when the onboard team spots them nearby!

Ready to see humpbacks for yourself? Join us in the icy waters of Antarctica and Alaska, or dive into the crystal-clear waters of French Polynesia for a once-in-a-lifetime experience swimming alongside these gentle giants.

Few places in the world remain as pristine and as untravelled as Patagonia. One of the most uninhabited areas of our planet, it encompasses nearly half of Chile and Argentina, but is home to less than 5% of either country’s population.

A Greenland superyacht expedition provides up-close, extraordinary experiences in this wild place, and in the spring, unparalleled access to prime heli-skiing terrain. No lift, no lines– ski from summit to sea on wide, treeless snowfields and down steep couloirs flanking glacier-sculpted peaks. Carve tracks where few have or will from heights overlooking iceberg-choked bays and granite landscapes some 3.8 billion years old. Both La Datcha and Legend– two extraordinarily capable, heli-pad equipped superyachts– will visit Greenland next spring, a prime opportunity to go beyond backcountry with EYOS. As the very epicenter of one of the greatest stories of Antarctica, the quest to conquer it pitted the lions of exploration against each other during Antarctica’s ‘Heroic Era’. EYOS’s team has extensive experience at 90° South - history comes alive as we stand at the pole and understand how the early explorers felt heading out across the frozen continent 100 years ago. The SeaXplorer series is the most capable and efficient luxury expedition yacht ever built. To help create the ideal globally-capable expedition yacht, EYOS took over 150 design criteria to DAMEN shipyard. Working with DAMEN’s design team, EYOS advised on details from the hull form and bridge layout to the tender davits and Zodiac boarding arrangements. Built with remote destinations in mind, SeaXplorer achieves an unprecedented 40 days of autonomy. Her guests will define their own limits.

SeaXplorer is the pinnacle of expedition super yachting. EYOS is proud to have worked with Damen and Amels on this outstanding series of yachts.

07/01/2024

The team at EYOS salutes our colleague Patrick Lahey in his appointment to the Order of Canada. As the Founder of Triton Submarines, Patrick has been at the center of humankind’s advances in ocean exploration and a partner to EYOS on deepwater projects around the globe.

Patrick’s passion, creativity and commitment have enabled our clients to dive safely and efficiently in every ocean, and to make significant contributions to ocean science. Patrick has provided ocean scientists, filmmakers and explorers with safe and stable platforms to venture into the deep that are, literally, a window into the ocean.

Perhaps his most significant achievement was the creation of the Triton 36,000/2, the first vehicle with capability to dive to any depth in any ocean. As the centerpiece of the Five Deeps Expedition, this submersible is testament to Patrick’s tenacious support of ocean exploration.

The Order of Canada recognizes the outstanding merit or distinguished service of Canadians who have made a major difference through their lifelong contributions. Congratulations Patrick; you are an inspiration to your colleagues and shipmates, and to future generations of ocean engineers.

National Nature Photography Day is dedicated to celebrating the art and beauty of an environment and its diversity, and raises awareness about conservation through the powerful medium of photography. Both natural history and cultural experiences are interwoven hallmarks of the EYOS experience, and images taken on our expeditions tell the unique story of a given place, like the images in this set. EYOS congratulates Colin Tennant and Saskia Coulson for their award-winning shot (first image) in NG Traveller UK’s photography competition, shot on assignment with EYOS documenting Inuit life in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of Nunavut. This is a portrait of Molly and her young daughter wearing a traditional seal skin amautis, used by Inuit mothers for centuries. Congratulations also goes to Jordan Banks for winning the same award with his stunning capture (second image) of a female polar bear resting on the ice off the coast of Ellesmere Island, shot on expedition with EYOS in the Canadian High Arctic; a brief encounter Jordan calls “one of the most amazing moments of his career.”
