Our Mission-
The Mountain Bureau, LLC is a Winthrop WA-based boutique mountain guiding service that takes pride in offering professionally-supervised climbing and skiing opportunities for all skill levels. We offer trips domestically and world-wide, in the most classic venues. We focus on the client’s goals and progression in the terrain they wish to experience. The Mountain Bureau can take client

s desires to experience a specific mountain range, peak, or route and then work together to design the perfect tour. Whether just beginning to explore the mountains, or building on years of experience, we take guests to the next level. All Mountain Bureau LLC guides are licensed and certified in the mountain discipline they practice. This ensures a safe experience with dedicated professionals. We are also the only service to brand “fair-trade” guiding in the US. We are proud to offer the best products for our clients and our staff. Our Products-
We are proud to offer exclusive, high-end products largely unavailable with other guide companies. Our services are primarily low-ratio, private experiences tailored to your specific goals and objectives. This allows us to manage clients in more challenging terrain. For example, our alpine climbing programs are focusing on one and two client climbs of classic objectives in the style of modern-alpinism. Our ski programs have a mountaineering element only possible with skilled professionals and capable, well-screened clientele. We do indeed instruct beginners from the ground up, but we focus on providing products for the avid recreationalist that values credentialed guides. The Owners Bio-

Steep Dolomite pitch after pitch yet moderate terrain. Not many times in climbing you can achieve the a proper flow state, but here it has been happening often.

However the climbs are not for the faint of heart. Climbers have a bolder way of moving. The movement connects easily but does require a traditional skill set of alpine rock. The climbing culture here connects over one hundred years of climbing history and adds a spice to the local flavor. Often you are clipping old pins, bleached out rope-threads, enduring long run outs, and using single steal ring belays. On the classic routes, a modern bolt sticks out like a shinny newcomer. Many locals do not use, or even bring, supplementary trad gear. They merely rely on clipping old pins and tat with massive spances in between. It’s fun to watch locals so comfortable with the medium they move with little resistance or hesitation.

The cultural climbing ethos and dialect has added to our experience indeed.
