Our Maasai guide of years ago, Tepoilit Ole Saitoti, who worked with the Ngorongoro Conservation, he was in the "Man of the Serengeti" at 18 years old, National Geo film- 1972. Saitoti would be turning in his grave to see the displacement of his people and culture. It's hard to wake up from our Mongolia tour. So many wonderful moments. We ended the tour with a wonderful concert of traditional dance, throat singing, shaman dance, tradition music and instruments.

Ndeje: A Century of Wisdom and Resilience
Ndeje, an elderly Batwa woman, passed on today at the venerable age of 101, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, wisdom, and an indomitable spirit. As we celebrate her long life and honor her memory, let us take a moment to journey through the various stages of Ndeje's life and the lessons she imparted to her community and the world at large.

Early Life
Ndeje was born in 1922, in the dense forests of southwestern Uganda, which were once home to the Batwa people. As a traditional hunter-gatherer tribe, the Batwa lived in harmony with nature, depending on the forest for their livelihood, sustenance, and spiritual connection. Growing up, Ndeje learned the ancient art of tracking, hunting, and gathering medicinal plants, as well as the rituals and ceremonies that formed the cultural backbone of her people.

Forced Displacement
In the 1990s, Ndeje's life took a dramatic turn when the Ugandan government established the Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks, displacing the Batwa from their ancestral lands. Ndeje and her family were among the hundreds of Batwa families forced to leave their forest homes and adapt to a new way of life.
