BOATERS: WE NEED YOUR VOICE – NOW!
WA lawmakers just passed Senate Bill 5801, proposing a 10% “luxury” tax on boat purchases over $500,000.
⚠️ BUT THIS WILL AFFECT ALL REC BOATERS⚠️
- This tax threatens our entire marine economy starting with Boat Sales, Boatyards, Marinas, Service crews, and the boating lifestyle we love.
- We already DO OUR SHARE and pay a value-based excise tax that provides ~$20 million/year to the State —This is a DOUBLE HIT on responsible boaters
- We've seen this before, a similar tax in 1993 DEVASTATED WA’s boating industry, and it was repealed just 3 years later as damage couldn't be ignored
