It’s both beautiful and sad 🩵
That has been the best description of this event for us. It’s so tragic and so heartbreaking for families and communities yet so beautiful and so heartwarming to see a community love one another and put others needs ahead of their own. We know that God is Sovereign even when we can’t explain what is in front of us, I hope that brings you peace it sure does me.

Snow made an early arrival. This is at 4500 ft overlooking Banner Elk with 2 inches overnight. Just a little dusting in town. Much warmer weather returning soon. Our hardworking recovery workers will continue on!

We got there Thursday afternoon and couldn’t pull in either driveway from trees that were down. Brian has that mostly cleared out now. Our basement has water damage all throughout and we are so thankful for friends who showed up from Tennessee to start mitigation on that for us! ❤️ I will tag them below! Our neighborhood has definitely united to help one another in many ways through this and that has been a huge blessing all throughout the area! We are drying out in the basement now and will start the rebuild process after that! Seven Devils seemed to be in decent shape with some of the roads that look to barely be hanging on but are still there at least. All this to say that we are all in the same storm BUT definitely not all in the same boat - so this is just my update from Lola’s!

What we know so far….. We are still standing! We know that we do have water in our basement 🥴(that floor is two weeks old) and several trees down.
The road to turn in our cabin is picture #5 with power lines down and across the road blocking the entrance and the last picture is the bottom of our mountain where you turn at Speedway to go up to Seven Devils. Thank you to the wonderful lady that messaged me and offered to go check!! She doesn’t even know me and she walked around the power lines and then she walked half a mile to go look for us! ❤️
It could be so much worse, all I have to do is look around the area to know that so I am thankful.

We have no words but a lot of prayers for all of this area that we love so much! We do not have an update on Seven Devils yet or our cabin. Thank you to everyone who has reached out to us to check on us! Catastrophic is not a word I use lightly but it is the case here today! 💔
