High Wind Warning

High Wind Warning issued December 27 at 11:59AM EST until December 28 at 7:00AM EST by NWS Morristown TN

Areas Affected

Cocke Smoky Mountains; Southeast Greene; Blount Smoky Mountains; Sevier Smoky Mountains

Details

* WHAT...South winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 80 mph.

* WHERE...Blount Smoky Mountains, Cocke Smoky Mountains, Sevier
Smoky Mountains, and Southeast Greene Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.

Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive.

The National Park will close due to high winds. Plan your day accordingly.

Adoption packages include a 2025 ABR Cub Calendar,, 4x6 photos of Scruffy, Rags and Crockett Bear, a Certificate of Adoption (not personalized), and a small stuffed cub.

The calendar includes photos of all the 2024 bears through Plum P Bear. She arrived just before the calendar was printed. Because they arrived at ABR after the calendars were printed, photos of Scruffy, Rags and Crocket Bear are not included in the calendar. We will include separate photos of these three bears in your package.

Your adoption purchase gives these bears a second chance at life in the wild.

We are so thankful to all the firefighters and persons involved in fighting this fire caused by downed power lines due to high winds. The Shagbark/Overholt Trail area is not that far from our mountain range. Luckily no Persons were harmed nor structures damaged.
