Our seaside cabins are a perfect retreat for two. Welcome to Indigo, one of our three newly-renovated seaside accommodations at Rustic Roots. This unit includes a queen bed, kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave & two-burner stove, shower room, private back deck, and fire ring. Next seaside availability August 15, 18, 21, 25. In 2017, after two busy, beautiful summers of hard work and falling in love with Seward, we bought a raw plot of beachside land on Lowell Point.

By 2020, we had gotten married here, built our first two A-Frames, and started a family. At that time, we wouldn’t have imagined completing our 5 Salted Roots units or expanding next door with 7 additional Rustic Roots units this year.

These units are part of a mini-hotel-style accommodation, each with a king bed (+ queen murphy cabinet and twin XL in Emerald), coffee bar, mini fridge & microwave, and shower room. If you’re interested in cooking during your stay, these units have a shared community kitchen with all the supplies you need.

Atticus is growing up with Salted Roots. Both him and the business are almost 4 years old! He loves spending time out here climbing the log wall, picking fiddleheads, helping water the gardens, and playing in the sand at the beach.

We’ve expanded! And you might be wondering where our 7 new units are located. To answer your question, we had this fun site map drawn for us. The map showcases our original 5 units at Salted Roots and our 7 newly renovated units at Rustic Roots, one property to the south.

Our space sleeps up to 42 overnight guests - 18 at Rustic Roots, 24 at Salted Roots, connected by a short forested trail on the back side, or a quick walk on Beach Drive at the face of the properties.

Both properties have private beach access and multiple fire rings, firewood provided. Salted Roots has a beachfront platform and barrel sauna, while rustic roots has a yoga studio/ petite gathering space amenity.

We enjoyed working with RhosFawrDesign on Etsy to create this visual, and hope you all find it helpful.

On this Mother’s Day weekend, I think it’s important to touch on what it means to be a family-run business. When we first started, it was just my husband and I, pregnant with Atticus, living in a dry cabin next door to greet some of our first guests ever. As we grew, I remember turning and folding laundry between Atticus’ feedings and nap times, with our own 2 moms here to encourage this crazy dream of building cabins on raw land in Alaska.

Now, as we have grown to have a group of powerful and amazing employees helping support this effort, we think how we can return support to them and their growing families. Salted Roots has 2 new babies this summer! Nicole’s first, and Madison’s second. Our dedicated team often have their littles along with them at the property, and we know being a mom and working is no small feat.

Today, I want to take a moment for our employees, mostly moms, who are absolute rockstars both in their home and at our home at Salted Roots. By supporting small business, you are supporting families who care, not just ours, but employees who make sacrifices everyday to make Salted Roots the best it can be. This weekend, we want to say Happy Mother’s Day to Nicole, Cassie, Madison, Dana, and Rita.
