🐻‍❄️💦🥶 The Seward Polar Bear Jump is this weekend! Watch brave souls jump into the frigid bay for a great cause! There is a lot going on this weekend - Check out the schedule of events.

This event honors cancer survivors, raises awareness about reducing cancer risk, and raises money to help the American Cancer Society ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer.

Today marks the shortest day of the year, and the beginning of winter, although it's been quite wintery here for weeks. This time of year, the sun is far down the bay, and we get just under six hours of daylight. This photo was taken at noon.

The little town of Seward, on Resurrection Bay, didn’t have much snow around town in December 1906. This view looking down Fourth Avenue shows several businesses operating in the town that was only a few years old. Stores seen in this photograph include Babbage the Jeweler, Alaska Pacific Express Co., Dr. Hale Dentist, Brown & Hawkins, Seward Bakery, Bank of Seward, Owl Drug Co., A.R. Boyle Jeweler and Hotel McNeiley.
