Did you know that we have two types of otters in our area? Sea otters live in the ocean and can usually be found floating and feeding on their backs. We also have sneaky river otters that live on land and spend time in both the ocean and fresh water. This sea otter wasn’t willing to share its ocean space with these river otters and chased them up the breakwater in the harbor. #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords
A few days ago our solo bubblenet feeder was at it again! Whales use bubbles to trap and confuse their prey before taking a big gulp. We’ve seen both cooperative and solo feeding this summer. #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords
The mouth at the end of the bubbles! So cool to see a solo bubblenet feeder! Thanks to guest Karen for this amazing video on today’s tour! #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords

Woah! It just happened! Bubblenet feeding in Resurrection Bay was spotted today! This cooperative feeding happens yearly, usually starting around the summer solstice. #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords @majormarinetours
Passing humpbacks going for a quick dive! Not all humpbacks show their tails when they dive, but we are always happy when they do! #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords

AT1’s or “Chugach Transients” made a lap through Resurrection Bay today! Unlike the resident orcas we’ve been seeing lately, transients hunt primarily marine mammals. The AT1s favor seals and Dall’s porpoise, but they have been known to take down the occasional minke whale too. #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords

A very dirty mountain goat looking a little lost on a scree pile. Thankfully, these surefooted animals can climb up and down sheer cliffs with ease! #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords

Whoa! Spunky, breaching humpback on today’s rainy tour! #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords
Captain Connor captured this very close encounter with a curious baby humpback who popped up next to the boat with momma close behind. We have to keep a safe distance while whale watching, but sometimes these curious and intelligent animals come close to us! We keep the engines in neutral and give them plenty for time to pass. #sewardalaska #sewardoceanexcursions @visitseward #kenaifjordsnationalpark #ocean #nature #wildlife #wildlifephotography #alaska #whale #whalewatching #kenaifjords @oquinnconnor
