Last week I had the opportunity to go to the Transportation meeting held at Sheridan County Fulmer Library and hosted by the City of Sheridan
🐾
I may have learned more had I attended previous meetings or knew to ask what I didn’t know, that I didn’t know. Nonetheless, I did find the meeting interesting and helpful.
🐾
We didn’t discuss the west side corridor, which anyone trying to get onto West Loucks or up to the hospital, sometime around 7:30 and 9 am and then again, starting around 4 pm, can attest “something needs to be done,” they did share where their information and current projects came from.
🐾
They shared two huge sized maps with us all, plus colored markers for us to use to write on these maps things we, as citizens, see needs to be altered.
🐾
The walking path (which of course and I are concerned about), the bike path, the tight spots (getting onto or off of South Sheridan Avenue down by the ice rink), the crossing point on Coffeen by Sheridan College were discussed heavily and marked.
🐾
It took me most of the evening to remember the items that have come into play, since my move (2 years ago). On one hand it seems sad to say “no, we need a stop light here and here,” because at one time in history (not all that long ago) these points on the map were hay fields - at the same time it felt good and right, to say “we need more safety measures for all involved.” And then my last contribution was needing street lamps on a short distance that is highly used - and while not all of it is within the city limits (another new lesson), every little bit will help. Not just for our regular population, for those visiting our beautiful town.
🐾
Before I close, I thank all of the city employees, the city planners, outside (non city employees) engineers/planners, WYDOT for their hard work. It cannot be easy, to make life better for us all, while managing costs and aesthetic of all projects.
