Things aren’t always as they seem.
This boat @jefesyachting was arranged for my birthday by @hotelderevegalata. Despite being told everything was ready (decorations, flowers, cake, etc) the boat was nearly 20 minutes late. The cake was wrong so I couldn’t eat it.
The captain and staff did not speak any English and used google translate.
The hotel had a cake and wine in our room upon return but it was late by then and my night ruined. They are blamed each other for the late boat. The hotel feels an apology is sufficient and no compensation due. Although they were the ones who arranged the boat that cost €500. My birthday and this part of our trip ruined for me.
Hotel reluctantly took 20% off our restaurant bill. And then proceeded to tell a story about living in American and things are different there. I don’t even live in America. I have travelled to 30 countries and never experienced this. I guess we have been fortunate. Not that we haven’t encountered our fair share of hiccups traveling as much as we do.
Lesson learned: continue to book our own tours with companies that allow you recourse if needed.
In good conscience due to transfer hiccups (which I haven’t shared here) and the boat mistakes I can’t recommend this hotel or the boat company.
Others may have other experiences but I’m sharing mine.
