A reflection by Fr. Matthew O'Leary of Holy Rosary Parish
Check out this inspiring testimonial from Fr. Matthew O'Leary of Holy Rosary Parish in Seattle, US! During his recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he had an incredibly blessed experience with his fellow pilgrims. Fr. O'Leary reflects, "Each place we go, we live the great events of the bible and his miracles. Once we visit these holy sites, we will see things we didn't see before." Join us in celebrating the transformative power of pilgrimage and the joy of discovering new insights about our faith and ourselves.

The Church of the Visitation in Ein Karem, Jerusalem, it honors the visit paid by the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, to Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. This is the site where Mary recited her song of praise, the Magnificat, one of the most ancient Marian hymns.

In ancient times, Sebastia was known as Samaria which translates into "watch" or "watchman" in English, the capital city of the northern Kingdom of Israel until it was destroyed by the Neo-Assyrian Empire around 720 BCE. During the early Roman period, Samaria was expanded and fortified by Herod the Great, who renamed it Sebaste in honor of Emperor Augustus. Starting in the Byzantine period, Nabi Yahya Mosque has been identified by Christians and Muslims as the burial site of John the Baptist.
“Our pilgrimage is a life changing journey that it will move us by the spirit of god, and change us by the holy sites that we will visit.”

Cana in Galilee is celebrated as the scene of Jesus’ first miracle. It is actually the place of his first two public miracles in Galilee — the changing of water into wine and the remote healing of an official’s son 32km away in Capernaum.
The Wedding Church in Cana built upon the remains of earlier Crusader and Byzantine churches. Inside the church you can go down to the crypt area where you will see a grill placed over a water pot.
During the tour to the church, our pilgrims had their marriage blessed and renewed their vows.
“Our help is from the Lord. Our help is from the Lord. Who made Heaven and earth.” Psalm 121
