This past National Philanthropy Day, CPC recognized the incredible generosity, kindness, and devotion of Tina and Mike Granthon and all that they've made possible in the fight against child abuse.

It's a sincere honor to have the Granthons trust and support. Both Tina and Mike became heavily involved with CPC’s fundraising efforts many years ago, each having served on event committees (with Tina chairing the signature Blue Ties & Butterflies gala not once, but three different times), Mike’s contributions of catering and gift cards through his restaurant company Above the Bar Hospitality Group, and their resounding success in garnering support and raising awareness for CPC’s 40th Anniversary Captain’s Initiative. Feeling a further call to help, Tina joined the Board of Directors in 2018 and currently serves as chair.

“We’re on this earth for what, 100 years if we’re lucky? It’s what we do with our time here. It’s unfortunate things like child abuse happen, but there’s got to be people like us who are here to do our part. It’s our duty, our responsibility, our calling to the community, to ourselves, to our neighbors. If there’s anything I can do before I leave this earth, my gosh, it’d be this.”

Feb. 27, 12:30 p.m. update from FDOT Southwest Florida:

In an effort to ease traffic congestion, after today, Stickney Point Bridge construction was approved to shift to overnight work starting next week on March 3, 2025. This will continue through completion, approximately the end of March 2025.

There is no weekend work, Friday through Monday night, when work resumes.

Overnight work will start at 7 p.m. and go through 6 a.m. This will include functional testing that includes opening the bridge. (The bridge alarm cannot be disabled for safety.).

Noise from construction equipment and bridge openings is to be expected.

Normal bridge openings for marine boat traffic will continue. These can occur every 30 minutes on request.


FDOT Southwest Florida Update:

SR 72 Stickney Point Bridge Maintenance: This bridge is currently undergoing an improvement project by FDOT that will extend the bridge's service life and operational reliability, mitigating the effects of the harsh coastal environment, severe weather, and wear from the volume of vehicle and marine traffic.

Bridge diversions are in place today, Feb. 27 during daytime hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. One bridge will be closed completely and one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on the opposite bridge. Drivers are advised to use the north bridge to Siesta Key or factor in more travel time.
