Our Northern Patagonia trip this fall (November 08, 2025 - November 18, 2025) is already confirmed. This is an incredibly oppourtunity to explore the famouse Lake District. Here are five fun facts to get fired up about riding this incredible region.

🏔️ 1. Twin Lakes, Two Countries
The Lakes District spans both Argentina and Chile, but each side offers its own flavor: Argentina’s side is drier and alpine, while Chile’s side is lush and volcanic—you can literally cross the Andes between two worlds!

🧀 2. Patagonia Meets Bavaria
Towns like Bariloche (Argentina) and Frutillar (Chile) look like they were plucked from Germany or Switzerland, thanks to European immigrants—think alpine chalets, chocolate shops, and even Oktoberfest vibes!

🌋 3. You Can Kayak Beneath Volcanoes
In Chile’s Lakes District, you can paddle through crystal-clear lakes like Llanquihue and Todos los Santos with perfect views of snow-capped volcanoes like Osorno and Villarrica towering above you.

🧳 4. A Road Trip Dream
The region is home to some of South America's most scenic drives, like Argentina’s Ruta de los Siete Lagos (Route of the Seven Lakes)—a winding road through turquoise waters, wild forests, and postcard-worthy peaks.

🌲 5. Home to Ancient Forests
Chile’s Lakes District shelters one of the oldest living trees on Earth—the Alerce (Fitzroya cupressoides), a cousin of the redwood that can live over 3,000 years in the Valdivian rainforest!

Driving the Cassiar Highway (Highway 37) is a remote and unforgettable journey through some of British Columbia’s wildest landscapes. Here are some of the top highlights along the way:

🏔️ 1. Stunning Wilderness Scenery
The Cassiar is all about raw nature—think snowcapped peaks, glacial rivers, endless forests, and big skies. You’ll often feel like you have the road entirely to yourself.

🐻 2. Incredible Wildlife Viewing
This route is famous for bear sightings, especially black bears grazing along the roadside in spring and summer. You may also spot moose, foxes, eagles, and even caribou.

🧊 3. Bear Glacier
Just south of Meziadin Junction, Bear Glacier looms right next to the highway—an awe-inspiring wall of blue ice descending into a glacial lake. It’s one of the most photographed spots on the route.

💎 4. Jade City
A quirky roadside stop where you can see jade being cut and polished. It’s a great place to learn about local geology, grab souvenirs, or just stretch your legs and chat with friendly folks.

🏞️ 5. Dease Lake
This small outpost is one of the few places with gas, lodging, and supplies. The lake itself is beautiful and offers fishing, paddling, and scenic relaxation in a truly remote setting.

Here are five fun and intriguing facts about Mongolia’s history. Each one offers a cultural or historical twist:

🏇 1. Genghis Khan Built the Largest Land Empire in History
In the 13th century, Genghis Khan united Mongol tribes and launched conquests that created the largest contiguous land empire the world has ever seen—stretching from the Pacific Ocean to Eastern Europe!

🏕️ 2. Mongols Once Lived in a Mobile Capital
The Mongol Empire’s early “capital” was a mobile city of yurts (gers) that moved with the royal court across the steppe. It wasn’t until Karakorum was built in the 13th century that they had a permanent capital!

📜 3. The Mongols Created a Pony-Express-Style Postal System
Centuries before Amazon or FedEx, the Mongols developed an incredible courier system called the Yam, using relays of horses and riders to deliver messages across thousands of miles—super fast and super effective.

🐴 4. Horses Are Still Central to Mongolian Life
Mongolia has more horses than people—and many Mongolians learn to ride by age 4! Their deep connection to horses goes back to Genghis Khan’s cavalry and remains central to nomadic culture today.

🛡️ 5. Mongolia Once Invaded Japan… Almost
In 1274 and 1281, Mongol fleets under Kublai Khan (Genghis Khan’s grandson) tried to invade Japan—but were turned back by massive storms called “kamikaze” (divine wind), which the Japanese believed were sent by the gods.
