To add a little Sicilian flavor to our family's Easter celebration over the weekend, we made these delicious artichokes. Keep an eye out for a blog post with the recipe later this week.

Saucy friends, Chef Benny's surgery went well yesterday. He's got at least 4 weeks of sitting around ahead of him and he's vowed to spend that time working on new menus, recipes and class ideas for you! Get excited!

03/16/2015

*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Chef Benny got a little over-ambitious while practicing his pizza acrobatics, has torn his meniscus, and will be going for surgery sometime in the near future. Ok, just kidding about the pizza acrobatics part, but the rest is true.
We want you all to know that we WILL continue to do classes once he's healed and back on his feet but in the meantime we really appreciate your patience.
If you've been waiting to do a class, we have one scheduled for this Saturday that we still plan to do - so join us for the last Saucy class for a while! eatsaucy.ticketleap.com

One thing I’ve learned during the past 11 years of my life and close proximity to all things Italian (or at least to one Italian person), Italians love to celebrate the day after major holidays just as much as they like to celebrate the holidays themselves. February 15 is no exception. Enter San Faustino - the day of singles. What do you think? Should the US join in this tradition?

From SAVEUR Issue #143 Is there a better way to start a meal than with an abundant antipasti platter, artfully arranged with ruffles of prosciutto, briny olives, roasted red peppers, marinated artichokes and mushrooms and pepperoncini, chunks of Parmesan, fresh mozzarella, and whatever else catches…

Sicily is 100% magic. The history and multicultural influences are themselves spellbinding. Add in the people and the food and you have an irresistible combination. Saucy and the Sicilian are heading back to the Motherland during the second half of March. While there, we will film a couple of cooking classes with Chef Benny’s own mother and scout out some awesome partnerships to move forward with our future food tours of Sicily! Stay tuned...

This is a beautiful Italian tradition - the aperitivo. A precursor to dinner (because the meal itself doesn’t last long enough!), the aperitivo is meant to prepare the palate and digestive system for dinner. Saucy’s absolute favorite aperitivo cocktail is the Spritz - a delightful mix of aperol (bitter), prosecco and soda. Our raffinato class is designed to recreate the feeling of the Italian aperitivo. Our next available class is one week from today. This is a new concept for us, and one that we're pretty excited about! Grab a few friends and a bottle of wine, and earn your 'foodie' stripes. Come learn all about the flavor profiles of the greatest hits from the classic Italian antipasto. We'll cover each element individually (cured meats, cheeses, aromatic herbs, marinated vegetables) and talk about their best pairings. http://bit.ly/1DroQeo

How would you Saucy friends feel about some online classes and videos? We want people near and far to enjoy some authentic italian food! Let us know what you think in the comments.
