This Saturady, December 14 at the Fine Arts Center Theater, The Mariachi Christmas Spectacular presents a grand event for all with Mariachi Femenil Estrella de Mexico de Mexico all the way from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Mariachi Femenil Estrella de México pays tribute to all the pioneering women and survivors of the first generation of female mariachis. Their performances honor these women and recognize their struggle and perseverance to perform mariachi music.
WNMU's very own Mariachi Plata de Western New Mexico University will also perform. The group is the only New Mexico championship collegiate mariachi ensemble offering arts education through lectures and workshops and promoting New Mexico’s vibrant artistic, cultural and ethnic heart.
Also performing is Ballet Folklorico Paso del Norte

Iris DeMent has been nominated for a Grammy award twice and is most noted for her song Our Town. Her music is rooted in alternative country and gospel.
Tonight's performance is sure to be memorable.

@pamyualive (pronounced: Bum-yo’ah) offers a multimedia performance with audio, lighting, and video projection to support a multifaceted music, dance and spoken word performance. The show is a platform to share indigenous knowledge and history, and the group’s style derives from traditional melodies reinterpreted with contemporary vocalization and instrumentation, often described as “Inuit Soul Music.”
Pamyua consists of three principle/founding members and a three-piece rhythm section.
