Summer Sailstice, June 22nd at the Dillon Marina. Notice of Event (NOE)
Founded in 2001, Summer Sailstice is the global sailing holiday celebrated on the weekend closest to the summer solstice. Founded on the basis that the non-sailing public doesn’t really understand sailing and most public awareness comes from events or tragedies that don’t accurately represent sailing (America’s Cup, Thurston Howell III, etc), Summer Sailstice was created to unite, celebrate and showcase life under sail, and be a lot of fun. Every year Summer Sailstice unites over 20,000 sailors across the oceans to celebrate and showcase life under sail.
The event is not just to boat owners and crew but for anyone who you think might have an interest in sailing or would like to learn more about it. The event is in partnership with the Dillon Junior Sailing Program as an opportunity to support the next generation of young sailors to become big sailors.....like us! Time to find some new blood out there and keep sailing in Colorado as unique as the majestic Rocky Mountains in which we play.
We have some fun events planned for the afternoon and hoping you can join in.
A meet and greet at the Dillon Marina and introduce new folks to sailing
A pleasure sail around the lake that hosts the World's Highest Yacht Club
An on the water concert with boats at anchor flying the Colorado Flag, a first for Colorado and the sailing community. The town of Dillon will be flying a drone around to capture this special moment with many boats flying the Colorado flag.
If you are unable to participate, we will miss you but maybe a consideration of supporting the program via the donation page: DYC Junior Sailing Club, INC
