The rocks stopped the Durango & Silverton railroad, but that doesn’t mean you can’t drive up for visit, grab for a jeep, Atv or side by side. Come up and take this guy out to see this guy!

Situated at over 12,000 feet in elevation, the Virginius Mine is located approximately 2,000 feet above the town of Sneffels, Colorado. This colorized photo from 1890 demonstrates the sort of mountain terrain that was common for mines in the southwest part of the state.
