The inside waters of SouthEast Alaska produce some incredible fish! Our 2022 season was one for the books with some larger than average chinook hanging out on the shallow kelp forest edges.
This fish absolutely pounded an AP tackleworks Lemon-Lime Herring spoon in 37’ of H2O!

The term “Tyee” is used by salmon anglers of the Pacific Northwest to categorize Chinook salmon over 30lbs. While this one squeaked into that bracket at 32 #, it fought like a true 50!
A big congrats to all parties involved! Let’s do it again!

Most halibut (120,000 to 1) begin to have their left eye travel to the right side of their body while in larval form. As they mature, the fish becomes more solidified into life as a true bottom predator.

Occasionally, the right eye travels and we all get an exciting and often confusing, landing of a mirror image to a “normal” halibut! Come fish with us in 2023 and see what other weird creatures we can share together!

The Horned Puffin, a black-and-white seabird with a beautiful orange-and-yellow bill, is a Pacific species reminiscent of the clownlike Atlantic Puffin. Its "horns" are small fleshy spikes that extend above the eyes of breeding adults. Whereas other puffin species dig earthen burrows for their nests, Horned Puffins typically nest on cliffs. They dive 100 feet or more to chase small fish, bringing dozens at a time back to their nest held firmly in the bill. These hardy seabirds spend winters far from shore in the Pacific Ocean.
