Alaska X is proud to sponsor our Musher Manager, Stump Jumpin' Kennel - Wade Marrs! Good luck Wade!
Wow! Long time no talk. Man do I owe you all an update. I had a successful summer in Skagway managing a super crew of mushers, handlers, and dogs at Alaska X. As well as getting to bring our boys to experience life in Southeast Alaska for a few months. Amazing memories made. We will be back next summer as I manage both the Skagway and Juneau Dog Camps. Taking a cruise? Come see us!
I worked at Alaska X for 6 years in my younger days, its where I met alot of you even! Thank you to Alaska X for welcoming me back to the company and now with my family.
I decided to take a winter off full time training dogs to be full time with my family in Wisconsin but I'm happy to be able to do a bit of racing. In a few weeks I head to Alaska to race one of my favorites the Kuskokwim 300 Sled Dog Race with Redington Mushing. Ryan has 9 Stump Jumpers this season and I really miss them and excited to be with them on the trail. Good luck to Ryan and his handlers racing the Knik 100 this weekend too.
Talia Martens of Martens Mushing has my young crew. She will be taking them in the Beargrease 120 in Duluth, MN. I'm eyeing up the CopperDog in the UP come March. Will see if that happens. Heard that's a blast. I always enjoy trying a new race and getting to expose the young dogs to the crowds unique to L48 races.
Mackey's Top Notch Racing Kennel has 4 core dogs of SJK and I'm excited to see them shine during his racing season and Iditarod. My right hand man in Skagway Grayson Bruton has the smallest Stump Jumpers getting them ready for their rookie season.
Big thanks to Ryan, his crew, Talia and her family, Jason and Grayson for taking the best care of our dogs. And all of you! Followers and fans of not only our kennel but the mushing community. You all are a major part of keeping this sport alive!
Merry Christmas all from SJK!
