Did you know Skagway's trail system includes over twice as many miles as our road system? So take a hike, buddy!

Here's a few tips to help you be a responsible and respectful hiker:
1 - Please stay on the trail.
Skagway has a great Search and Rescue team, but you really don't want to meet them because you got lost.

2 - Pack out what you pack in.
Even biodegradable items. Lets keep Skagway's trail system trash free!

3 - Leave the plants where they are.
Leave plants and flowers for others to enjoy. Some will not reproduce if picked.

4 - Keep your distance from wildlife & DO NOT FEED THEM!
Feeding wild animals can cause them health problems. It can also cause them to become comfortable around humans and think of them as a food source. This can create dangerous situations for both humans and animals.

5 - Hike with kindness
You share the trails with other humans and animals. Be considerate of how your actions impact other users.

Thousands of stampeders flooded the Dyea Valley during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. Today, nature has reclaimed the area, but traces of that historic event are still visible along the walking paths of the old townsite.
