ATTENTION INTERNATIONAL AIr TRAVELERS!

As of midnight Sunday, Covid testing will no longer be
required to enter the USA.

The CDC is lifting the restriction that the travel industry had lobbied against for months after determining it was no longer necessary “based on the science and data,” the senior administration official said. The CDC will reassess its decision in 90 days and if officials decide they need to reinstate it, because of a concerning new variant, for example, will do so. The measure has been in place since January 2021.

GREAT NEWS!

Today, Crystal Cruises, in partnership with The Bahamas, announced they will be the first ocean ship to sail from the Americas since the cruise industry’s voluntary halt in operations last year. Crystal Serenity will commence sailing from Nassau, Bahamas on July 3, 2021, with a series of 7-night departures through October 2021.

The itinerary features:

Harbour Island,
Called the Nantucket of the Caribbean with its colorful New England architecture and famed for its Pink Sand Beach. The island is a former capital of The Bahamas and has been twice recognized as The Best Island in the Caribbean by Travel + Leisure magazine. Guests can also discover Preacher’s Cave, Glass Window Bridge and Sapphire Blue Hole on North Eleuthera Island;

Great Exuma,
The largest of the 300+ islands and cays of the Exumas, home to waters so stunning they can be seen from outer space and the famous swimming pigs. Guests can island-hop among pristine isles, snorkel gorgeous reef-fringed cays, escape to secluded beaches and hidden caves, enjoy an ATV adventure, and dive clear waters;

San Salvador Island,
Featuring more than 50 dive spots and splendid beaches. Guests can hike up to Watling’s Castle ruins and gaze out at French Bay from the lookout tower; also they can visit the first landing spot of Christopher Columbus, marked by an iconic stone cross;

Long Island,
An 80-mile-long island straddling the Tropic of Cancer and known for its white-sand beaches, technicolor waters and lush greenery. Guests can explore the geological and ecological exploration of Hamilton’s Cave and Dean’s Blue Hole, and enjoy some of the bluest waters in the islands at Gordon’s Beach.

Please contact me with questions. The reservation lines will open on
March 18th.

This is such happy news! We’ve waited so long for just a little
encouragement.

A brief synopsis of airline protocol regarding flights to Italy. Please remember that these policies are changing daily and are posted ONLY for travel before March 31 and in a few cases before April 30, 2020.

American Airlines has suspended operations to and from Milan. The airline had served the city, which is part of the Lombardy region, from New York – JFK and Miami in the United States, with one flight from each of those airports daily.

American also reports that it will now waive all change fees up to 14 days prior to travel for customers who purchase travel between March 1 and March 16. The offer is available on any of the airline’s published fares. Additionally, customers scheduled to fly through Italy through April 24 can rebook through June 30 between the same city pair in the same cabin (or pay the difference). American will also waive change or cancellation fees when customers delay their trip beyond June 30, up to 331 days after their original ticket date, or wish to change their origin or destination cities, but a difference in fare may apply. Travel must be completed within one year of the original ticket date.

United Airlines is allowing all customers who book a flight through March 31 to change it for free over the next 12 months. Additionally, customers scheduled to fly through Italy through June 30 can rebook in the originally ticketed cabin and between the original city pair. For rescheduled travel departing after June 30, or for a change in departure or destination city, the change fee will be waived, but a difference in fare may apply. Rescheduled travel must be completed within one year from the date when the ticket was issued.

Delta is allowing all customers who book an international ticket through March 31, 2020, to rebook through February 28, 2021, with the new ticket to be issued on or before that date. Additionally, customers scheduled to fly through Italy through April 30, 2002, can rebook through May 31.

Lufthansa is reducing frequencies on varies routes to Italy in March, including to Milan, Venice, Rome, Turin, Verona, Bologna, Ancona and Pisa. SWISS will probably reduce flight frequencies to and from Florence, Milan, Rome and Venice until the end of April, the airline group said. Austrian Airlines is reducing its flight program to Italy in March and April by 40 percent, including reductions of flight frequencies on routes from Vienna to Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Rome and Naples.

Eurowings is reducing its flights to and from Venice, Bologna and Milan until 8 March. Eurowings flights to other destinations in Italy are currently not affected.

For its Italian route network, Brussels Airlines has decided to reduce its flights to Rome, Milan, Venice and Bologna by 30 percent until 14 March.

The State Department has increased its advisory level for Italy due to the outbreak
to Level 3 – Reconsider Travel. The Veneto and Lombardy regions are listed
at Level 4 – Do Not Travel, which is the most severe rating on the State Department’s four-point travel advisory scale.

There are now 92,943 cases of the coronavirus worldwide, and 3,160 deaths, according to the latest remarks from World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, noting that the WHO has raised its assessment of the risk of spread and impact from the virus to “very high” at the global level.

As the situation is updated we will do our best you keep you informed.

There have been so many rumors and facts spread regarding the Coronavirus that we thought it was important to share some of the meansurements that are in place by cruise ships.
Their primary concern is your safety and have initiated rigorous sanitation procedures to keep you risk free. With special attention paid to on board staff who handle food, utensils, beverages and have cabin access. This includes but is not limited to strict pre-boarding examination with additional screeing of those passengers presenting with any flu-like symptoms.
The Cruise Line Association (which most lines are members) has published the following guidelines:

*************************************************************
Dear Guests,

In accordance with the recommendation of the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), any passenger who has visited, or transited through an airport in China (including Hong Kong and Macau*) or Taiwan*, within 14 days prior to their embarkation (period of incubation) even without presenting a fever, and for all passengers that have stayed or transited recently through an airport in China (including Hong Kong and Macau*) or Taiwan*, and presenting a temperature higher or equal to 38°C*, will not be accepted for embarkation onboard the ship. Accordingly for the safety of you and all our guests checks will be carried out prior to your embarkation. For any further information, we invite you to contact your Cruise Reservations department or your Travel Agency.
*************************************************************

We, as part of an industry who is deeply affected by this worldwide issue want to reassure you that the bottom line for us, as always, is your safety.
We are monitoring the situation with our counterparts throughout the world...both on land and on ships. Just this morning two of our Venetian colleagues have called ro give
us a personal take on the situation there.

As we can confirm future information, we will share it with you.
Please do not hesitate to contact our office to voice your concerns and ask your questions. We promise to be good stewards and a source of honesty and transparency as we move through these difficult times.

We are thrilled to present the 7th Annual Musical Adventure hosted by Emile Pandolfi. Shouldn’t 2020 be the year you
visit Barcelona - Madrid - Sevilla - Granada and Lisbon? All from the comfort of one of the most exclusive yachts in the world?

There is a small iron sign on the entry gate to Granada that says...”give the woman an alm, for there is no greater pain in life than to be blind in Granada” . It is true.

Just call the office and let us make the magic happen. Emile will handle the on board magic! Accessibility and the opportunity to hear him play is such a big part of these trips. His Master Class was phenomenal - it made us believe there is hope for all novice pianists!

The world is waiting...come explore it with us!

"Be fearless in your pursuit of what sets your soul on fire"

What I love about this quote is that it applies to everything- not just travel. It tells you to be bold in pursuing your passions and the things you are interested in. For me, it’s travel. For others, it may be a business venture, a lifestyle change, or even a big life decision. Whatever you are passionate about, pursue it relentlessly.

Traveling for me puts things into perspective. It allows me to realize that there are far bigger things than my problems. So what if the wifi is slow or if my favorite hot dog place is closing. Traveling allows you to see that the world is not always about you. It allows you to see how other people live and what they have to deal with on a daily basis.

Traveling has humbled me and has broadened my perspective in so many ways. It will do the same for you.

Good morning Road Warriors. The computer problems that plagued the airlines this morning have been resolved. However, you should still expect delays and perhaps some cancellations throughout the day. What a way to start a Monday... right?
Please call A Travel Odyssey for updates on your reservations. I have emailed those affected...but the status of your flight could change.
Sorry to be the messenger!

As you know, earlier this week Rene and I combed through our records searching for clients traveling on a Boeing 737 Max 8 or 9. We have always prided ourselves on being proactive particularly when safety is the issue. Now that these planes have been grounded we are in the process of finding alternate and acceptable flights for you. There are programs put in place by the airlines for reaccommodation and/or refund if your travel plans have been affected.
We started calling you last night and will continue to do so today.
There has never been a better time to use a travel agent. We bring a LOT more to the table than just an airline ticket.

We appreciate your business.

What To Know About The New 'Visa' Process For Americans Traveling To Europe

You will soon hear about a visa requirement for travel to some European countries. Hopefully this link will explain the process.

These changes become effective in 2021. If your plans include any of the 26 countries currently participating, you will be required to complete an online application. You will receive an electronic approval. A traditional visa, one that is stamped into your passport, will not be necessary.

Travel can be difficult. A Travel Odyssey will always help unravel the confusion and complexities that are part of discovering and exploring our incredible world.

First of all, it's not actually a visa.

American aims to avoid putting delayed travelers on rival carriers - News and Observer, 10/9/2018

Unfortunately this is not good news for you Road Warriors out there. As always, if you find yourself stranded by cancelled flights or delays, your best line of defense is to use a travel agency. And when it comes to choosing one of those, may we suggest A Travel Odyssey?

http://digital.olivesoftware.com/Olive/ODN/NewsAndObserver/shared/ShowArticle.aspx?doc=NAO%2F2018%2F10%2F09&entity=Ar03901&sk=78F3A407&mode=text

A new policy at American Airlines could leave more coach passengers stranded after delays or canceled flights. The airline is telling agents to avoid rebooking economy customers on other airlines, with a few exceptions such as people flying to a wedding.

In Marketing 101 I suppose they teach the importance of promoting your “brand”. So that the minute the public sees it, they know who you are and what you stand for. This morning I am finalizing group documents for a fabulous Danube River adventure .

And when I reached for a paper clip - there it was - my brand. A Travel Odyssey.

After 47 years I hope it stands for integrity, commitment and knowledge.

My biggest satisfaction as a travel agent is contagiously sharing my passion for traveling...by helping others create the experiences and memories that they, too, will always cherish.

05/02/2018

I'm not sure if gifts, flowers and chocolates are appropriate but on National Travel Agents Day, you should at least call your agent and book a fabulous vacation! We would love to hear from you!

It’s quick notes like this that mean so much. We always hope that what we do lasts in the minds and hearts of our clients....

***************************************************... At the time I don’t think I really realized how special the Norway experience was. I had a terrific time, but as time goes by and I reflect the idea of Norway and the sites we visited are even more precious. I am so thrilled that we made that trip. Great memories. (And I still communicate from time to time with Anne Gardner who still calls me “roomie”)

You do a wonderful job of putting these trips together.

Just thought I’d tell you so! And wish you a good week.

Marilyn.
