Embracing Alaska Y’all!
We can mix and match to meet your needs! Moose Landing Cabins offer you so much to see and do within 15 mile radius or 150 mile radius or even further…the big Alaska sky is the limit.
•We have focused trips that include fishing, hunting, ocean going day trips to glaciers and whale watching, plane trips to admire the bears or rural fishing spots and an amazing scenic train ride from Anchorage to Seward.
•Feel like exploring some of the local trails? We have some doozies to the foot of a glacier, maybe the height overlooking Kenai Lake at Cooper Landing, or going all the way to Harding Ice Field from Seward Exit Glacier Trail. There is the much loved Russian River trail to watch the younger bear fish for salmon.
•Want more adventure? How about a water taxi across Kachemak Bay to hike and pick berries or stay in a yurt and kayak at low tide around the seashore.
Want to just relax and see some of the highlights? How about day trips mixed with just relaxing at Moose Landing Cabin by the lake. Fun day trips to:
•Cooper Landing- 1 hour north, offers the beauty of Kenai Lake and the beginning of Kenai River. The fisherman line the banks, true combat fishing. Consider a day drift boat and rafting trips. Drive up to the Kenai River Princes Lodge for a panoramic view of the Kenia River.
•Moose Pass Townsite- 1 hour 10 minutes from Soldotna on your way to Seward. Beautiful lake nestled in the mountains. Stop for coffee and a walk around or take a float plane flight over the Harding Ice Field. Watch out for moose. The name came from the old days when mail traveled by dog sled and the moose were very heavy in this pass, thus it got the name Moose Pass.
•Seward- 1hr 30 min away for day cruise to glaciers, tour the Sea Life Center or leisure hike to Exit glacier. Great shopping and food in town, see the “O” marker for Iditarod starting point in 1926 Nome epidemic serum run. Learn the history of the gold rush years and mining. The mountains shine, not only on the drive there to also engulf around the city.
•Kenai- 15 minutes from Soldotna. Visit beautiful Kenai, a must see is from Boy scout Park that overlooks the mouth of the Kenai river and Cook Inlet then across the bay to Redought and Iliamna Volcanos. If you are visiting in July you will see the dip netters, Alaska residents can us a net and dip for salmon traveling the Kenai to spawn. Keep traveling north through Nakiski to Captain Cook Campground, about 40 minute drive. A must at low tide, amazing boulders scattered in the inlet, remnants from when the volcanos exploded and showed the ocean with house size boulders. Relax and walk on the beach looking for treasures like sea glass and black rocks with braded white ribbon bands.
•Homer- 1hr 20 min south for walk on the “Spit.” Also called the “Strand.” Watch the fishing boats come in with their halibut/redfish/salmon catch. Shop the local venders, don’t miss seeing the historic Salty Dog Saloon. The drive is breathtaking with views of the three volcanos across the Cook Inlet.
•Seldovia- boat trip from Homer 20 min trip. Great hikes around town and through the woods to a secluded beach. We enjoy sitting in the outdoor café and having a delicious salad and bowl of chowder. Save room for dessert, check out our local brewed root beer with splash of ice cream.

Late February into early March there is a buzz in the air…the events going on around Anchorage in preparation for the infamous “Iditarod “ race. Here are a few Facebook and Google events for you to drool over. Attention teachers, there’s a great site for you and the school kids to get involved with mushers and their dogs. I’m so excited to be in McGrath for the 52nd race of 42 mushers and their dog teams this year, 2024.

Thinking about a fun Alaska Adventure, I recommend Major Marine Cruises from Seward. The departure site Is Harbor 360 Hotel, about 1.5 hour drive from Soldotna. There are many choices to choose from depending on cruise hours.
Here are your choices…remember , let Moose landing cabins book for you and get 10% discount.

6 hour Glacier and Wildlife Cruise, the most popular cruise. One tidal glacier viewing and lots of birds and sea animals. Deli sandwiches included with complementary hot tea, coffee, coco and water. Purchased items sodas, beer, wine and snacks. May 4-Sept. 22, 2024. 11:30am till 5:30pm. June 7-Aug. 18, 2024 8:00am till 2pm.

7.5 hour Glacier and Wildlife Cruise, two tidal glacier viewings. Otherwise same accommodations as 6 hr cruise.
May 24 till Sept. 8, 2024. 9:30am till 5:00pm.

8.5 hour NW Fjords Cruise, three tidal glacier viewing. This is a smaller boat with 60 passengers and more open sea time so caution to those who tend to have seasickness. Kids 12yo and older recommended. There is no wheelchair access on this vessel.
May 31 till Sept. 2, 2024. 8:30am till 5:00pm.

Family Fantasy Fishing

I’m not sure if I want the world to know how fantastic Josh and the team at Moose Landing are… I don’t know if I want the secret to get out.

Our journey started back in July 2023 when a random person answered my question about fishing in Soldotna, Alaska…
We have a large family and nine of us made it down to Soldotna to go fishing at the end of September. Not only did they have cabin accommodations for us, but also they found an amazing drift boat crew to take us down the Kenai River for a truly unforgettable day fishing. Our cabin was spacious and perfect for all of our needs… Six of us slept comfortably, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Early morning, an additional three were added to our party without a hiccup and we were off for fishing for an unforgettable day for our family. As we sit at St. Elias, we have spent the last two hours scrolling through pictures and telling stories. We are making this a regular family event.
