Good evening everyone. It has been a whirlwind Spring preparing landscape plans for some wonderful clients. I wanted to share one of Third Day Designs’s current projects that is coming to fruition. Happy April in Kentucky! 70* yesterday and snow this morning!

Wanted to thank everyone for all of their support over the past couple of years during shutdown. I also wanted to let you know that we have some great construction projects coming up this year. I will keep you up to date as we begin and throughout the process.

Enjoy the crazy Spring. Get out and enjoy the outdoors and remember to cover your tender plants when the nights get below freezing.

Hi everyone! Super long time since I posted. This Covid stuff has been challenging to say the least. BUT! - Third Day Design has persevered. I am currently working on three projects but have openings for new clients for 2022😃! Hi all! It’s been a rainy week in our area and this has spurred the most amazing plants to bloom! These are Magic Lilies, or as my mother called them - ‘Naked Ladies.’ 😂

Licoris squamigera, also known as the Magic Lily or Resurrection Lily (I like Mom’s description better 😆), is from the Amaryllis family. It puts up foliage in April and May which quickly dies off back to the ground leaving nothing. Then comes August - TA DA!!! These beautiful blooms appear on single stalks out of nowhere.

Take a walk around your neighborhood and see if you can find some. Better yet, purchase a few bulbs from your local garden center and plant them this fall. You won’t be disappointed and next year you will have a magical surprise in August!

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I posted. We have been very busy as we have moved yet again! I know, I know. You are saying ‘Didn’t you just move?’ Well, truth be told, we’ve moved four times in twelve years. I get the garden set the way I like and “poof”. Time to go.

This brings me to my current situation. We are back in suburbia. I am discovering wonderful new plants and trees in my new neighborhood! It’s fantastic! A whole new buffet of plants to learn and appreciate I see beautiful dark leaf, red blooming crepe myrtle. A Dawn Redwood tree that belongs in a park somewhere. Hydrangeas that take your breath away. It’s fun!!

Get out and enjoy nature in your little corner of the world. Breathe the air, hear the cicadas, touch the blossoms. Peace!

I have to show y’all again the amazing Clematis at Hawkswood! It’s going crazy cool!! Also the Coreopsis bloomed today. Beautiful, long-blooming perennial that is such a vibrant orange. Cheers!

A bit of rain last night and today in Somerset has set the iris blooming!! These are just good ol’ fashioned species German iris that I rescued. They smell fantastic!

The hybrids will be popping soon! I know a few secret gardens that have beautiful iris. I’ll see what I can do to get some good pictures to show you! Cheers

Our clematis at Hawkswood burst open this weekend! It is covered in gorgeous blooms. I didn’t plant this one but if I am not mistaken, it is called ‘Nelly Moser’. Enjoy!!

The Cumulus Serviceberry by the patio is blooming this week! Beautiful light scent on this native shrub. Always a great choice! Cheers! JOP
