Given the enormous power of the equipment in use today, it is critical that operating engineers have the best training available. At our two outstanding training facilities in Dayton, N.J. and Middletown, N.Y., our members have access to training on virtually every topic that heavy equipment operators need to stay on the cutting edge. Full-time, on-location instructors provide everything from heav

y equipment operator training, training in emergency response, hazardous waste operations and OSHA requirements to keep contractors supplied year-round with safe, skilled, and efficient operators. With everything from heavy equipment operator training, emergency response training, hazardous waste operations, and OSHA training, to full-time, on-location instructors, Local 825's training sites ensure that Local 825 members are the safest, most highly skilled and experienced operators on any worksite. We are currently planning a new training center in Wawayanda, NY.

Thanks to the Local 825 members who volunteered to give blood yesterday at the NJ Training Center in Dayton. The 36 units of blood that were collected exceeded the organization’s goal of 25 units, according to Willie Vaccaro, Training Director.

The blood donated saves the lives of trauma victims, patients with blood disorders, cancer and many other life-threatening injuries and illnesses. Shortages occur throughout the year, especially in this area of the country.

The blood drive was conducted by Vitalant, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood and biotherapies healthcare organizations, providing hospitals and patients across the U.S. with a safe blood supply.

While we like to show a positive response from our Local and prefer members give blood during our drives, if you missed this one, you can look for a blood drive in your local community.

Operating Engineers Local 825
NJ Apprenticeship Program

Two-hundred fifty (250) applications will be available for the Operating Engineers Local 825 NJ Apprenticeship Program class that will begin in the Spring of 2024.

Applications must be completed online starting at noon on October 17, 2023. Applications will be closed after 250 submissions are received; please be ready with all required documents.

1. Applicant must be at least 18 years of age,
2. Applicant must have a valid driver’s license,

We wish everyone a great Fourth of July holiday weekend culminating with the nation's birthday on Tuesday.

The day marks the passage of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Continental Congress had voted to approve it two days earlier but revisions to the document were still being made by its author, Thomas Jefferson, and fellow committee members John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and William Livingston.

Today, with beaches, picnics, get togethers and fireworks, the magnitude of the achievement is not always on the top of our minds ... but hopefully we all take at least a few moments to reflect on our country's birth and all it has taken over the years to retain our independence.

NY STATE HUDSON VALLEY AND SOUTHERN TIER REGIONS: Local 825 will conduct a recruitment for 10 apprentices in New York State’s Hudson Valley and Southern Tier regions. Beginning Nov. 14, one hundred (100) applications will be distributed, on a first-come, first-served basis at https://tinyurl.com/825Apprenticeship.
The online portal opens at 8 a.m. for 24 hours a day during the recruitment period, which will end after 100 applications are given out, or by Nov. 28, whichever comes first.
