Fly fishing float trips down the Rio Grande are THE thing to do… check out 8200 Mountain Sports to set up your group!

Lots of inquiries about when the river will be float-able.

We have been experiencing a much colder early Spring with added precipitation. This has kept the ice pack along the river edges "thicker" than we have seen in recent years. *By this date last year we had already been on the river for a couple weeks.

The graph shows the flows (cfs) at 205cfs, with the historical average at just below 350cfs.
Water temps are between 32-40f daily. Again, much cooler than norm.

So, when can we float? There is a very pronounced warming trend in the weather over the next 7 days. I think we will see increased flows (melt off) and that will aid in breaking up the ice on the river. I'm shooting to get the boat on the water by April 4'ish.

Don't forget that your Annual Colorado Fishing License expires at the end of March and you will need to renew for 2023.
