Josh Rasler caught this photo of the ice shelf along Lake Michigan while flying over South Haven yesterday. The little point of sand in the center is South Haven's beaches. The warmer air the last couple days means ice is very weak and unstable! Stay off the shelf.

It’s the season The Sugarhouse at Ridley Family Sugar Farm

Yesterday was our first boil of the season-🍁
This week looks pretty decent as far as sap production goes. We're hoping that some of those warmer nights they're predicting end up staying colder. In addition to the amount of sap we get, we are equally interested in the sugar content in the sap we are getting and right now it's at about 2.5% which if not too bad for Southwest Michigan. 🍁☀️🪵

We are ordering 5 24" Life Rings, Protective Containers, Mounting systems, 100' of Rope & care/instruction materials today. These life saving devices will be along our Black River Walk with 2 on our North Side between North Beach & North Shore Dr. & 3 on our South Side between the Concession Stand & the Municipal Marina.
We want to thank all of those who stepped up and donated the money for these units. This includes, Robert & Connie Metzen, Dorothy & Michael Dinardo, Melissa Monohan in care of Joseph & Veronica Monohan, Ryan & Mandy Servatius & The South Haven Steelheaders Sport Fishing Association. City workers will be out in Ward 1 today doing asphalt fillings on our streets. Please take caution when driving around them as they work and on another note, stay off Ward 1 if you can so you don’t get the asphalt onto your tires and vehicle. 🚗

It’s amazing what one week difference in the weather can be. Last week at this time it felt like we were in Antarctica this week. It feels like we’re in April with low 40s temperatures and the snow melt to the point that grass is showing again. Have a great day out there today, it’s gonna be beautiful as always here in South Haven.
